Building a new system...have some questions

right to a point i think, the cap is gettin power from the battery just like every other thing so im sure power loss is there i have disconnected car batterys before not knowin there is a cap in there and grounded them out so power can still get pulled from the m

the cap derives its power from the battery… this i know… but it SHOULD only discharge in ONE direction… the output terminal side, UNLESS theres an internal short in the cap which would allow it to backfeed.

i think a cap is a storage facility for power so it can go either way it wants

you’re half right… if there is a designated output terminal the cap should ONLY discharge in that direction.

Next time you see a cap with an “input” and “output” buy it, take it apart, and then realize that it’s the same terminal internally. Capactiors to not have the ability to block the flow of electricityin a specific direction, doides do.

This is about Ilya’s car and the $40 Tsunami Rice Cap. There is DEFINATELY no diode in that.

look up the MA Audio SYC10Q capacitor… thats what i was running.

Caps are junk who cares

:wtf:bh:
Wow dude you can’t be serious. Caps have a positive and negative post.

Please draw or find a diagram on how you connect a capacitor.

Thats where you are wrong man, it’ll discharge in any direction that there is an electrical load placed on it.

This is why i HATE sterio shit…

I use to be into ALOT more then I am now. Hell, I used to just drive around for hours and listen to music, but now I only bring the truck to sound-offs and I dont have anything besides a cd player in my daily driver

Nothing to argue about, Jim and I are right, and he’s wrong.

WHY do all of his posts in THIS thread have ATLEAST one word IN CAPS???

was i right to a extent thats all i wanna know:D

As long as you’ve never used a cap to try to make up for a lacking electrical system you’re right in my book.

This reminds me I need to get my 2nd alt on the truck sometime this spring

Your MA Audio Cap is a standard cap with distribution blocks built into it.

The bet still stands…06 Z06 Vette vs. Travis’ logic.

Holy crap. I started ignoring this thread but figured I’d check it. Looks like I missed out on a lot.

I am doing balls to the wall on this project (in my opinion).

This is how I plan on doing this setup:

  • Sound deaden doors, trunk, and car floor with FatMat.

Then do as follows (power down left side rocker tunnel, everything else down the middle):

Or should I ground each amp/sub separately?

Ground them all at one common point. A very good ground point!

You should just bring it to my shop and have one of the guys do it.
