Ok so my buddy and I just loctited the butterfly screws. My buddy did all of the work so I guess I shouldn’t really take an credit for anything. It didn’t take him that long at all to take everything apart thanks to the How To tutorial posted on the Vboard. It was crazy though cause he unscrewed the butterfly screws with his fingers. Man that shit was loose…good thing I got this done cause I think that shit would’ve came off pretty soon. Got a quick question…maybe PyreXXX can help me on this…I bought the ghetto sim and we just tried to install it. I guess I only ordered one so I thought that I would give it a try. We installed it on the bottom sensor and tried to reset the code. When we were messing around with the codes I guess we forgot to install the MAF back. We installed it back in but couldn’t get back in to reseting the codes. Did I need to order another ghetto sim…one for the top sensor cause I don’t know what else to do.
Ok so you can go about this a couple of ways, one take off the negative terminal on your battery for like an hour, or do the pedal trick that is listed on a thread that is in FWD down below. the top o2 sensor does nothing, so yes you have it installed on the correct o2 sensor, notice how it is below the cat on you header (you do have an 03 I believe, otherwise it is on your midpipe). Now I couldn’t quite understand what you were trying to say at the end of your post there, but make sure you installed your MAF sensor the proper way, cause it has to be in you intake piping the right way, it says right on it which way is which tho, I hope this helped a bit.
I think the 02-03’s actually have three o2 sensors. I can’t remember the last time I’ve looked under the hood of one.
If you’re still getting the SES light, you may need to get your hands on a second o2 sim for the middle o2 - the first one in the sytem measures the dirty exhaust so it does nothing.
Nice to hear you got your screws done! I’ve read stories on the Vboard about peeps who opened up the manifold and had the screws out on top of the plates, just waiting to get sucked into the engine. :?
No there is only two o2 sensors, but they are both in the header.
SES light is gone!!! Ok so I drove the car about 50 km today. I went over to my buddy’s place to do an oil change for the car. On my way there the light was still on. I got to his place and shut the car off. Started it back up again cause we had to run to Home Depot real quick. As I was waiting for him I noticed there was something different. It didn’t really clue in right away but then I noticed the SES light was gone…I was like sweet. I don’t know what happened but I really hope that shit doesn’t come back on. Anybody have any ideas on what might’ve cleared the SES light? Oh and I am running on synthetic oil now and wow does it feel better. Runs a lot smoother I noticed.
I noticed that Mobil 1 really helped my car smoothen out as well.
As for the light, if the problem isn’t happening constantly the ECU will keep the light on through a few start/stop cycles to remind you to have the car serviced. If it doesn’t detect any further problems, it will then turn the light off to indicate the problem is no longer occuring. If you ever see the SES light flashing at you while the car is running, that’s the time to get off the road and turn the engine off - it means majorly bad things are happening and the ECU is detecting constant problems.
For example, my car will occasionally throw a p301 cylinder 1 misfire code, but after about 3 start/stop cycles the ecu will delete the code if I don’t bother first.
Yeah well your SES light should not come back on again, well at least not for the o2 sensor. enjoy your header
