am i retarded or is there a trick or detail i overlooked
i cannot access the one bolt for manifold removal, as the alternator is in the way. how do i remove the alternator, as i couldn’t see the tensioner pulley to release belt pressure
how hard should this be, i have installed headers before and am not mechanically illiterate -maybe that white bus was the one for me :?
also if i use the oxygen sensor location at the collector(instead of just cyl#4) will it trip the Check light
Yeah…once you take the belt tension off it, the install is cake. You don’t actually have to completely remove the alternator when you go to take it off either, just twist it to the passenger side with the pulley facing the front of the car. When you are done, just slide it back into place and slap the belt back on!
Make sure you get yourself a large (24" or bigger) breaker bar to break the header bolts loose if you don’t have air tools. A breaker bar is just a straight bar with a swivel head and a 1/2" chuck on the end to accept sockets.
did ok ;
but now i think it has a little leak under full throttle, i’lll just retighten the flange at the bottom
=the trick is this is my first car with a single belt system, so i didn’t know how to ‘work’ it. after that i did ok , and i know what a breaker bar is , i use a 3ft tube 8)
ok , i got the spacer and the SES light still came on. does it matter which location you use for the O2 sensor? on my header one is right at the first bend on cyl3, and one is at the collector for all 4.
originally i was on the collector, then spacer on #3. like i said both locations make the SES come on
Yeah it should go on the 2nd O2 snesor. The one on the down pipe. You will have to resest the SES light after you install it. If you need a hand let me know… I’d be glad to help.
