Buying a car from canada

is there and special procese for reg. a car that orginally from canada?
i know there a tax at the border but what about the regrsitration?

my advice is don’t do it. it’s not worth the hassle for us, for canadians it is, but def not us

^^ i dont think he’s talking about a new car

what are you trying to buy from canada that you cannot find cheaper in the states!? Canadians come here to buy cars because its cheaper! you tell me what your looking for, and i’ll find it cheaper in the US!

What you need is a letter from the manufacturer stating that the car was built to meet DOT standards in the United States as well as Canada. When you bring the car across, you show this and your bill of sale. I did not have to pay taxes at customs, but rather when I registered the car here. Which the process was no different than normal.

I’m sure you can search and find the info on the customs website, but this is what I went through a few years ago.

because canada can get cars like these.

thats pretty much what you have to do, i didnt pay duty with the TDI either because it was manufactured in North America… get the “Letter of Conformity” from the manufacturer, and youll be good to go

also, think about how you will be bringing the car back, if you are bringing it on a trailer then you are okay, but if you are going to drive it back, you have to stop at the “MTO” office in canada to get transport plates, good luck!

skylines are cheap and plentiful up here…

visit GTRcanada.com and check out the for sales.
