Buying a car in NY

Anyone ever?

What do I need?

Insurance, sales tax, etc.?

Anyone knows, let me know?

Proof o insurance , drivers license , Money… that should do you good. I think you can have the person sign away the title and you can drive it home get it regged here in PA.

dont pay ny anything, just pay for the car

That’d be ideal. I’d hate to have to register it in NY and then bring it home and register it in PA

dont have to,but u may want to buy a 30 day tag to drive it home,if it drives!

yeah, it drives…i just wasn’t sure if NY had 30 day temps. I know PA doesn’t.

pa does if ur taking the car to another state, they are paper plates!

I think NY has a “vehicle in transit” tag. My parents bought a car a while back from NY and that’s what they got.

Call AAA and ask them. They’ll know.

Offhand, I’d say that if the car has a title then I think you’ll need to have it signed and notorized in NY before you leave. If the car doesn’t have a title then I would think that you’ll want to get a bill of sale drawn up and have it notorized before you leave NY.

FWIW, I’ve driven cars back to PA with a license plate off of one of the cars that I already own. Probably not the best thing but I’ve never had a problem so far.

Bought mine in Maryland, had the MD cardboard temp card for 20 days, until i went for the PA registration.
