Buying a TV ... Nerd help appreciated

If you can set something up i have cash in hand… looking for a 60" plasma

I work tomorrow will give my boss a call or try to find marks number. I know we had got the tv’s for the restraunt from him and they are 50" plasmas for a decent price.

Dirt cheap tv on the boulevard. I bought a sharp aquos 60" led for $799. It is a refurb but picture quality is superb and I am very happy. Also got a sharp aquos blu ray surround sound system for $200 when I bought the tv.

Someone setup a group buy for 60" plasmas then.

I’m sure we could get at least 10 people in.

Best buy has a decent package deal with their Samsung LED tv’s where you can get another tv, 3d blu ray or a sound bar with them. Picked up a 60 with the player and extra 3d glasses for 2700 OTD. The extra crap like high speed HDMI you can probably get cheap online. I believe their 55 inch LED package was 1999 or something like that. The tv has an amazing picture and it’s ULTRA thin.

i can absolutely not stand watching LED TV’s. everything looks slow motion. however the picture is clearer than my plasma

I have a 54" Panasonic plasma, a few years old now, and still looks amazing like the first day I turned it on. If your room does not have direct sunlight towards the screen I would go with plasma. I have played PS3 and Wii on this TV with no burn or issues.

My LG 52" plasma is 6 years old now. Other than my recent circuit board issue, I can’t complain. I think pic quality is good and on rare occasion, I’m able to do a little PS3 with my boy. I think it’s a decent unit. $ 1500 new but that was a long time ago…in TV years.

There is a picture smoothing setting that stops that btw

True motion needs to be turned off.

I have an LG LED, Panasonic Plasma and a Samsung Plasma (all 50"+) and I have zero complains about any of them.

In fact, my Samsung has probably been on for ~14,000 hours and it’s never missed a beat. (Every night, for approx. 8 hours, for 5 years).

Amazon FTW. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIERA-TC-P50U50-50-Inch-Plasma/dp/B00752VLRC/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?t=slicinc-20&tag=slicinc-20

Here’s Consumer Reports ratings for TVs 55"-59" FWIW

go to slickdeals and set up alert. buy as soon as good TV comes up, don’t wait because if it’s really a good deal it will be gone in an hour. newegg is awesome for these deals.

value point = plasma. I don’t get how you can’t like it, it doesn’t have the flaws of LCD/LED and the only real downside is taking a bit more power to run and putting off more heat.

Got my 60" LG plasma for $799 last year, love it! They sold out in an hour and people were crying for months about missing the deal.

Meh I guess I’ll just buy this in 60" It looks like a good deal. I’ll keep an eye on sick deals though.

I’m telling you, set up an email alert… checking once a day will only mean you see deals you missed unless they suck.

Has anyone done the math on renting one from a rental store? I am still pissed that I plunked huge money for a Sony then it failed 18 months later, if you rent it is not your problem if it breaks.(?)

this was posted on slickdeals front page this morning

I’d be embarrassed to have “Aaron’s Sales & Leasing” on my credit bureau.

Not to mention, they most definitely take your teeth out.
