Love having a discount tire a mile from my house. Great service, and free flat repair.
Who is paying $ 20-25 per tire disposal if you’re ordering new on the net? I used to work for a local tire recycler and we charged an average of a buck a tire. Retailers charged whatever they wanted, but that’s not up to the public. I usually pay whoever is mounting the new to dispose the old.
Pat at Mid-town, Judy at Exxpress, ETD, or Moores for GY are the usuals I deal with.
i always price them out at tirerack and discount tire then go to a local place and see if they will match it with free mount/balance
most local places will charge crazy price for mount/balance if you dont buy the tires through them
Thought all these guys were wholesale only?
randy at reid’s in west seneca. good guys over there, tell him the guys at randy’s car care sent you.
thanks guys. i checked tirerack and discount, looks like i am around 600-650 for decent tires ordering online plus mount/balance.
i will check out the mentioned local guys to see how they compare. im dropping the truck a little more and doing some preventative maint, need to have the smaller tire on there first and hoping to get this all knocked out rather quickly so it be alot easier going local. shouldve thought about this earlier in the week. lol.
Yep.
I usually wait until garbage night and but an old tire in front of someone else’s house. Not my problem anymore.
For the past 6 years I haven’t bought tires anywhere but TireRack.
Have you cross shopped DTD? Every order I’ve placed in the last 3 years DTD has beat TireRack once shipping was added in to the TireRack price.
Plus if you plan ahead DTD has great sales every couple months where you can usually get a $50 to $100 visa cash card with the purchase of 4 tires. My last set of Ventus V12 evo’s in 245/45/17 cost me $328 shipped to my door for 4 tires. That was $100 cash back from DTD and $80 rebate from Hankook.
I usually do DTD because I have access to free mount/ballance.
I will never buy from tirerack again. To much bullshit with them telling me the size won’t fit my car or you don’t want that tire this one is better. Not to mention they wouldn’t let me order just 2 tires and shipping is expensive.
no ones charging 20-25 per tire disposal, I said its usually 20-25 per tire for valve stems, and to mount, balance, and dispose of the tire.
DTD and have Swerve mount FTW
I guess my brain didn’t process that the way you wrote it.
I had swerve mount my tires once, but I guess everywhere charges you like $20-25 a tire for mounting and balancing now a days. I ended up at like $65 after taxes… I remember when it was my job at Goodyear to mount and balance for $8.00 an hr lol it’s so hard for me to spend that much on this service.
Pay attention to the dates on your “hookup” tires.
my last two sets have been through DTD. They are tough to beat with their rebates and no tax/shipping, especially if you are buying wheels and tires together.
DTD couldn’t be beat for my last 2 sets. My local mechanic always used to always charge me $60/set cash price for M&B/disposal and I’d usually just drop the wheels/let them do them at their leisure, but last time they charged me $90. WTF? It was $60 6 months ago! Next time I’ll go back to Swerve even though it’s a bit far from me.
I get tired mounted and balanced for $10 a corner pays to always stop at the local little guy. Free rotations and flat repair also.
