CAI RATTLES????

a few weeks ago, my cai broke in 2 pieces. the bypass valve broke. the stealership fixed it, but now, when i come to a stop, or if my car is idling, the cai rattles. the stealership mechanic said it snapped before because it had no room to vibrate, and the tension made it snap. :bash: -he must think im retarded. heres my problem, how do i stop the rattling? i took off the mounting screw/rubber bushing, inserted a few washers, and tightned it back up, but it still rattles. the stealership tried to fix it by sticking tape around the base of the cai so it doesn’t rattle as loud. any serious opinions would be greatly appreciated, the noise is very annoying.

is it banging off something when the engine moves?

i think it is rattling at the base of the cai, where it goes down through my fender, i have to jack my car up to get the air element off, so it is really time consuming and a pain in the ass. i also have to take off a bottom piece of the wheel well, but i can’t stop the rattle.

get a turbo

hockey tape :bigthumb:

the hole where it passes thru the inner fened? Can you trim some off of that?
i remember doing one on an ser and we had to do that and the cai kit came with a rubber split gasket sorta thingy, that if the tube were to move it would not where a hole in the tubbing.

I got one of those foam beer coolers that fits around the can, cut it up and duct taped it to spots where mine rubs

hockey tape fixes everything!

my cai didn’t come with a rubber seal to go around the tube/fender hole. i wish i knew where to get one. i was thinking about going to lowes/home depot and look for something that might help. i don’t have a rotary tool, so i can’t trim away the hole. i was thinking about trying to stick the rubber strips you use foor door protectors, i could slide that around the hole edges, and see if it helps, but i want to make it so the tube has no room to rattle.

get a turbo??
i know i said i never would, but im really thinking about it now, i really have nothing else i can do to my engine besides a lightweight pulley, and valve springs. if you got some tips on how to piece on togeher so i don’t have to spend $3995 on a turbonetics let me know…
