turbo and dry nos setup… strickly street motor so i need to be able pass emmissions and all that happy bull shit …
i looked at dsm motor on ebay … i was thinking of just having a race chassis built around it and drop a 350 in it …but that is not what is going to happen
250hp is easy. The turbo hatch im tryin to sell is around 230hp with a stock motor and a straight t3 and a cooler. 440cc’s, rom editor(full standalone capabilities) and 4-5psi.
If you did a nicely matched t3/t4 with 550’s and the proper tuning, people are making close to 300hp all day long.
problem with you set up is I see no sleeved motor no forged internals, no nothing but factory honda parts. if you run a bottle and a turbo on that motor and try to get 300whp out of it on stock internals you are doomed. either go B series or build the D right
one cam VTEC head from a 90s Civic EX… slap that bitch on your block, do the neccesary work to complete it, then slap a turbo on it… something that’ll spool quickly, like a T-28.
what are u all babbling about. B15, there is no such engine. d15b1, d15b2, d15b7, yes, but no b15. If your reffering to one of the d15 engines, im assuming u have a b2 or b7 since u said u have a dx. Those both have about 9.6:1 compression, which is the highest d-series comp.
There are 2 things that u can do to get 250-300 whp out of a d, and reasonably cheap.
Tear the engine down, put a z6 head on it, not a y8. Then toss in some pistons and rods(i.e either ls rods and grand vitara pistons, ~8.5:1 compression, or some eagles/srp,je whatever FI piston you choose) Build a decent turbo setup to run 12-15 lbs. T3, decent FMIC and good fuel management.
Leave the bottom end alone, take the head, do a mild port and polish, maybe a zex turbo cam, cam gear, and a new headgasket, and timingbelt. Build your turbo setup something that will run up to 10lbs pretty effiecently.
I did number 2, Jason(gearhead) has the car that i built. All i had was a bone stock d15b2, t3 turbo, log mani, SMIC, 2.25 charge pipes, 2.5 straight exhaust, running turboedit. On 4lbs of boost i stayed dead even with a FWD 2g eclipse running 12lbs, from a roll at 30 to 110 and from a dead stop. The small amount of higher comp of the stock engine will give u a few more ponies that u woulnt have to make up in boost, so u have less tuning hassles, and less chance of detonating. My hatch was gutted to the max, and there are quite a few ppl around that willl vouche for how fucking hard it ripped.
all in all, after buying the engine, si tranny, and the entire turbo setup, i had 1200 dollars into, but alot of hours. IF you have the skills, 300 is cake for less than 2k.
b15 was a typo and i already got an z6 head… and money is all a tax write off so i am not worried about that… now that i i heard all of that … that is all i needed to know…
I remember some guy on GMPT that was working on putting a 350 in his talon after he got crankwalk. i dont know whatever happened to him, but i do know he had a cardomain page.
