Well i got the motor running agian, good oil pressure(60-65) and i have been fighting nisfires since it got running,i have misses on all cyl at adle and it adles rough as hell, now hwen i go to get on it there is a slight hesitation then it goes, and sometimes it shudders a lil bit but not much. Not alot of road testing yet casue i have no hood on it. Now when i am semi-on it i have no misfires. I changed plugs, wires and tried the coil pac and checked for vac leaks, could this juts be the cam? Few videos…
Leak down Test, you need to have compressed air available, as well as the
special gauge. The gauge looks like this:
One face of the gauge measures the pressure of the compressed air
that you are forcing into the cylinder, and the other face measures the
percentage of this pressure that is being lost. There is a knob on the
gauge that lets you control the pressure going in so you get even results.
A leak down tester is a kind of compression test which allows measuring the ability of the cylinder to hold compression.
a Cylinder compression tester tests your compression in each cylinder, then you compare you cylinders to eachother and see which has lower numbers… from what i beleive, if you have a 4 cylinder for example and the compression tester reads cyl #1 = 200 Cyl #2 = 209 Cyl #3 = 196 Cyl # 4 = 123, then you know you have a problem in #4 Cylinder… I think that your pretty much in the clear if all cylinder readings are within 12% of eachother, but dont hold me to it the % may be different
what all has been done to ur computer. I know when u put in bigger cams in the ls1 cars u gotta turn off the misfire code if not it will cause problems.
I talked to tim king tonight and all he could basicaly say is t ocheck the plugs for hair line cracks:blah: . I odn,t know man,the cam sounds aggresive as hell is a very pleasant sound at that though. BUt i switched PCM,s with a local here that has all same mods as me but VS cam to no avail, checked EGR(took off the top and replaced it),Cleaned MAF screen, checked for vac leaks, checked plugs and so fourth…NOTHING!. I am showing 15 pounds of boost at about 60-70% of throttle too and the boost bypass is junoming around like crazy!
how much vacuum at idle is it pulling now? is it same as before (assuming you were running the cam setup on old motor)? if not, i would say timing is off. even a half a tooth either way will make a difference. figure 1 tooth can be 6 degrees on some motors, so half a tooth being 3 degrees is enough to toss vacuum out.
my thinking is, that little bit off on the cam angle sensor and crank trigger wheel would cause the miss fire. not 100% sure how your motor is setup, but have seen it on shit i play w/.
I don,t think it is timing related due to the sole fact that when i had it running b4(thursday) it ran fine except for the misifires on 1 and 5 that i beleive was casued by the coolant leak into the charger and fouled out my plugs. Repalced gasket and cleaned out coolant form motor, put back together and now this, could it be alternator related at all ot boost bypass valve?
Scans at idle are as follows…
TP sens…0.51 V
Injector pulse width…3.0
MAF frequency…2900-3200
MAF…8 g/s
02 sens bank 1…87-950 V
Ignition timing…22.00 Degrees
IAC…74.91
boost sel…100%
MAP voltage…1.4 v
iac seems a little high, are there any other codes?? how bad is it missing… if you do a leak down test it will show if your cam is off a tooth. it is not hard to do, just may take some time.
