can it ever be justified to buy a fast new car

I don’t mind the look. I do find the S6 much more appealing looking than the S7 or RS7 too.

It’s too early to say on maintenance costs. I purchased it new and have only put on about 3k miles so far. There is some info over on nagtroc about ownership costs and ways to reduce them a bit. The tranny issues have been dealt with both mechanically and with revisions to the launch control software revisions (currently at LC5) so those mechanical failures have been greatly reduced.

i’m also interested to know about this.

My M3 hasnt been bad really. other than oil changes and basic maintenance I had the blower motor done under warranty and the front suspension bushings replaced but that was due to a pot hole.

also had to change up the spark plugs and coil packs because even though they were not giving me problems NA, when i went SC they couldnt handle it. this is all with over 50,000km’s in less than 2 years.

^^ WHAT?!? The RS7 is pure sex.

…yeah pure hate sex

Almost all cars are a depreciating assets. Almost every person who buys a car finances them. So I guess everyone is dumb, except for you?

im pretty sure even when you pay the minimum payment on an auto loan you’re still paying on the principal as well, so I don’t know how anyone could only pay the interest.

when you finance something you always pay interest, look at buying a home, although homes don’t generally depreciate. By the time you pay off a mortgage your house cost you almost double. So I guess everyone is dumb but you.

Home = tax deductible interest and tax.

run it through a business so that the whole payment is an expense…

ya the price of some fully loaded domestic cars competes with that of the premium counter part.

I do love the RS 5 but no manual still is a turn off for me which is why I stick to the BMW lines. Bigger cars are just over 400hp and I can get my little 135 up to almost 400 so the speed I really wonder about.

All around tho, the M5 is a perfect car if you are looking for a fast DD.

People think not saying what they owe on something will get them a better trade in value when you actually do worse on a free and clear trade. If a dealership has to cut a deal down to get it approved because the owner is Jimmy Hoffa(buried/underwater) they will.

And said anything about sporty with a XF Supercharged? More like ballsy luxury.

You know I’m just messing around here, right?

I pay cash for everything, including my 3 houses, because I’m not poor.

Except my cars. I finance those interest only in perpetuity.

Bro, I thought you were serious, bro.

This entire thread is

Buy the RS7

This is why I got into bikes. Spend 5k on a nice used liter bike, go to the track, run low 10s on PUMP GAS AND STREET TIRES every weekend, and don’t worry about it blowing up, just enjoy it.

As someone that talks to Alex very often I almost think he should buy something big if he wants it under the right conditions. He loves cars, owns his own home, has excellent credit and is current on all his bills. I told him he should get a litlle more paid down on his house and a slush/ emergency fund if you will then go for it.
There is a fine line between building for the future and enjoying your life. How much do you need? Most people will say more, more, more. For what so you can retire with a xxxx next egg in the bank, stocks, whatever.
If you know Alex he is 99% happy, loves cars and has no serious girlfriend or kids. If he makes 3k a month pays his bills, saves a little and blows a grand a month on a car payment I think it’s great. He’s not getting married or having kids tomorrow and when that time comes I’m sure he’s smart enough to adjust his lifestyle.
Sorry to throw you out there to joe( 91mr2) but this is another situation that could be similar to this thread.
Joe bought his mom a car that probably cost him 2 yrs pay. Can you call that stupid. You could but I can’t even imagine the awesomeness of the moment and how happy it makes joe to this very day. Can you put a price on that. Never! Could he have invested the money and made more. I’m sure in 20 yrs the memories in his heart and mind will waaaayyyyy trump seeing a larger number in his bank account.
I guess what I’m saying guys is its not always about making the most you can and live a little (responsibly) when you’re younger. Do I say blow it all? No. But I think most people should enjoy their money and what it can do for them/others more then they do.
Yes this is coming from me.

That’s a great post @misteroman I agree. Do what makes you happy. Every decision doesnt have to be the most practical.

Dbl post somehow

If he makes 3k a month take home you’re suggesting he spend half to pay for a car?

I realize people should spend money on things they enjoy but at least be reasonable about it.

He already mentioned selling all his other cars to put down 30k which still means his financing 70k+ on it after 4-5 years of driving the thing around here its going to worth less than half…Fuck keep a DD and buy a 996 Turbo or something there are all kinds of amazing cars out there you don’t need to spend 100k on.

In the end do whatever you’re personally comfortable with it just seems like putting out a lot of money for a daily driver that is going to lose a shit load value by the time you pay it off.

A 1/3 not half. He’s looking more along like 75k I think not 100. Think he’s looking at like a year or two old car iirc, not brand new. Not 100% sure on my accuracy but seems that way from talking.

They’re 2013 and up…

Only ones I could find online for sale are 2014 and up the BASE price is 107ish they option up into the 120+ range.

Yup looking at first post seen his 100k comment but we were finding rs7 ’ s in the 80’s. Not that it’s alot cheaper lol but I guess a little
