So I was looking at RS7s on autotrader and they vary up to $50,000. I know Porsche has some crazy expensive options but Audi too? WTF? Maybe it is just dealer mark up.(?)
Really?
You don’t mind a 2003 Camry though… lol
I just cant bring myself to care about resale value. I keep my vehicles much longer than most people though.
It is a wonderful car. Especially when free.

To quote myself
I think part of the reason I hate so many cars is that they advertise themselves as Sporty and wind up being tepid, or as luxurious but wind up being cheap. There are no false pretenses with the Camry.
The Audi and Jaguar both tout themselves as “sporty” and then deliver a 4,000 lb car with less steering feel than . . . . a 2003 Camry?
i’m going to go with YES it is reasonable to buy a new or newish $100k car.
but at that price you should put value in things other than power and speed. if you can buy a $100k car you’re probably sort of an adult who has a job. you cant just drive like a jackass in your $100k car all day long.
factoring in warranty, build quality, luxury, how many chicks you can pull and what kind of chicks you can pull with the car all need to factored in pretty seriously
after you get some $ in the bank, get your non-mortgage debt paid off and get yourself into a long term home… if you can still comfortably afford to go get yourself an M5, or a 911 or a C7 Z06… i think you’re silly if you dont do that.
presumably you’ve worked pretty hard, or at least someone worked pretty hard for that money (eg. parents), and it would be ashame to just keep it all in the bank earning nothing.
work hard, spend money on things that make you happy… or go work for the government or something and be boring and bored.
somedude and @Wahoo should hang out

I agree with Bing
On a side note…I usually see this guy on my way to work & home on Central ave
i’ll say this though, if you’re married and your wife is not cool with you being a dickbag with your money / car then don’t do it. unless you hate her.
Lol earlier in the thread I was going to make a lambo reference. I’d rather have a 100k lambo than a 100k Audi, something tells me the lambo wouldn’t depreciate as fast as well
just go interest only on the loans. What could go wrong?
What do you mean go interests only on the loans?
what are your thoughts, my next car will either be a new m3/4 or a gtr
^^^ i like where this is going.
As I recall, you are a dsg/2 pedal only guy, right? If that’s the case, then the GTR is pretty tough to beat or even come close to in my book. I did consider an S6, but the local dealer wasn’t very accommodating to put it mildly… The stock performance of the GTR is unbelievable at low 11’s in the mid 120’s right out of the box. The transmission is pretty outstanding, interior aside from the center stack is really nice, and there is plenty of trunk space as well which is nice. The back seat is definitely very tight, although it works great for my son in his forward facing car seat. As far as a comparison to an M3/M4, it’s really apples to oranges in most categories. In a nutshell, buy the GTR if you want absolute performance and the M3/M4 if you are more focused on fit/finish and luxury. Neither car comes even close to the other in either of these categories imo.
It allows you to keep that principal really high, so when it’s time to trade or sell, you’ve got an ace in the hole.
I mean you should definitely go interest only on the loans, don’t pay off any of the principal on a depreciating asset. You should definitely do it.
lol
Yep. It’s like a nest egg but a little different.
i must be the only one who thinks the rear of the rs7 is just plain ugly
Damn I would love to own a GTR… I’m glad to see that they’re not continuing to have those nasty transmission problems that seemed so common when they first came out. @EvoMR , hows reliability and maintenance costs been on yours? Obviously don’t expect it to be cheap to own, but curious to know if it’s reasonable.

I can’t really get into sedans with that slant back. Same with the Panamera. Just can’t get too into it.
