Hey everyone I have tried searching but I could not find any good results… typical of me, I can never find what I am looking for haha.
Well anyways I was wondering if you could help set me straight. I am in the states and I am unfamiliar with the different trim levels they offered for the S14 in Canada. If you guys want to throw in a link or any info to help educate this stupid American that would be great.
I was told that all Canadian 240sx’s came standard with VLSD’s. I was hopeing that someone could confirm this for me? The only reason that I am not sure is because I have been calling junk yards in Canada and I have found several open diff’s that people are offering.
Does the LE model of the S14 come with a VLSD standard? What are the differences between and LE and SE in Canada? Thanks for your patience as I am a newbie to the Canadian 240 scene.
Canadian cars also came with a very popular Rustbucket Package that wasn’t available in most of the southern USA. You’ll see a lot of cars sporting it here.
Hahaha! Mine is actually equiped with the Rustbusket Package too. After this winter I bet my car will upgrade itself even more. So far I have the hood weight reduction, rocker panel weight reduction, and it has started the frame weight reduction as well!
Oh and thanks for clearing that up for me. Now the search for a NON-ABS VLSD continues! P.S. If anyone has an extra pumpkin lying around I will come and pick it up within 2~3 hours of the Niagra region. Everyone stateside knows that Canadian pumpkins are better and it would be great to have one for Halloween lol.
One more quick question, you have the base, LE, SE, and XE models?
wrote this up on NEO so I’ll just repaste it here…
1995/1996 (Zenki S14s) models in Canada came in SE or LE. Canadian SEs are 4-bolt, have no rear sway bar, and may have various options (including electric sunroof and ABS, but not leather). Canadian LEs are 5-bolt and this is the biggest distinguishing feature. I am not sure what standard spec was for LEs (i.e. whether they all had ABS or Leather or electric sunroofs as options or as standard equipment).
1995/1996 models in the US came in base and SE. The base was 4-bolt, while the American SE is 5-bolt. This is why there is so much conflicting info on the 'net - some people talk from a Canadian trim POV and some from American.
1997/1998 (Kouki S14) models in Canada came in SE or LE but this time they were all 5-bolt hubs. I don’t know the particulars of what exactly distinguishes LEs from SEs (apart from what I believe are standard equipment leather sets). I have never seen a Canadian 97/98 S14 with 4-bolt hubs.
1997/1998 American cars had base, SE and LE trim levels. Base was 4-bolt while SE and LE’s were 5-bolt. Again, standard equipment and interior options vary.
In my mind, the obvious (and to me the most important) thing is 4-bolt vs. 5-bolt and whether or not the car came with a rear swaybar from the factory.
All the other shit is inconsequential.
