Candle Waxxed

I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice, if not assistance in removing this off the car.

The Story:

My Brother parked his S14 just off of off Isabella, at one of his friend’s places, On Saturday night. It has been there since Sunday Night. I stopped by, on Sunday, and noticed some blotches all over the body - to discover, upon closer inspection, that they were blotches of candle wax that run from bumper to bumper.

From the looks of things, someone lit up a candle - and just let the wax melt and fall - drop by drop - onto the body. There is some wax that got on the sealing for the sunroof, as well.

I was thinking that warm water would get the stuff off - But I am uncertain. I am also uncerain if the hot wax - coming in contact with the paint - will have any effect on the paint itself.

  1. How should I go about getting this Candle wax off of the car? Can I do this at home, or should I seek out a Professional job? If professional - who would you recommend?

  2. Is this going to damage the paint job? If the waxspots are removed - will they leave some sort of marks?

If you cannot visualize what I am talking about - be patient with me. I am going to take some pictures of the mess as soon as I can - and show you what I am talking about.

warm it up with a hair dryer. hopefully it will get the wax hot enough to just wipe off. it might work.

Really cold water and then they should jsut peel off easy…im guessing…

It might (or rather, might have). but with the spots being all over the body - it would have taken quite some time.

I was a bit antsy about what that might do to the paint. I thought that it might pull off some of the paint. Stupid, perhaps - but if I am not ready to fork out dollars to get a paint job done (“just in case”).

I took the reverse of that - Used hot water. Got most of it out. Gonna have to do so again, when next I get time - to get the rest out (and tidy up the details).

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. And my apologies about a tardy reply (and perhaps giving an update on this, as well). I did not intend to be rude - but I did forget that I started the thread. This was because the car was parked for the last month or so, coupled with other problems that took priority (shortly after this one had been mentioned)

thats the most fuhucked up thing ive heard in a while

people are messe up dude…sorry to hear about the s14…

just use a pressure washer it’ll come off just fine

are you sure its candle wax or Tree sap… I work at a detailing shop and we get alot of people that park their car under a tree and leave the country for a few months and come back with their cars covered in drops of tree sap. heat it up if it melts its wax… if it doesnt its tree sap. If so come to my shop

I’ll ask the detailer at work today. But guys tell me it will come off over time not all at once. Car wash after car wash will eventually make is dissapear. I’ll pm you.

this thread is over a month old, im sure hes figured something out by now…

sounds someone is doing voodoo/black magic on your brother, seriously ;\

I was suprised when I saw her. And I was bogled as to what can motivate someone to do that. The conclusion: a Crack Fiend found some entertainment with matches :stuck_out_tongue:

Sucks that it happened. But I’m glad that it is all that happened.

It is wax, for sure. Was out in the sun - and it melted a bit.

That is what I am realizing.

Some of it came off - that way.

True, although, there is some wax remaining. Repetition of the procedure will see results. But if there are other solutions - why not sugest em? Heck, I dunno how frequent (or rare) this hapens to peeps. But at least there would be some solutions on here.

Can I kid around - and say that I am a Jedi?
