Hyundai’s CEO back in 99 was discusted with their
product. (ex. bolts in engine bay were multiple colors, wires everywhere)
he set out to emulate toyota’s quality.
now they make better stuff. sales rose 42% the following year.
( i got that out of a text book, “managing for quality and performance”)
as for china, we are buying ourselves into oblivion. our parent company buys machined parts @ $6 when it costs over $25 to make it stateside.
investors need profits, so if you dont cut the costs, your competitors will.
there is nothing we can do about it.
all we can do is make it so that china can not compete with lead times.
nothing like setting up a factory in china, then having your top guys start another one across the street and sell your stuff globally for less money.
