Tire pressure light is on but pressure is fine, that is covered by warranty and getting covered. Thats what I thought was the issue as well but unfortunately it appears not to be.
Brakes are good, no problems there. No excess road noise from tires or anything along those lines. My biggest problem is that its killing my gas mileage, went from averaging around 39mpg and sometimes getting as high as 44 down to 31-32. The pull is annoying of course but I bought the car for the gas mileage and if its not getting near 40MPG’s Im not happy at all.
No symptoms of the brakes being bad at all, the steering wheel is actually cocking to the left when I take my hands off the wheel for a split second at highway speeds. No pulsating, no feeling of the brakes hanging up, no pulling when applying the brakes, no shaking, no noise. But my significant drop in gas mileage does make me think theres something besides the alignment being an issue.
If the car was mine I would have, but its my girlfriends. I just happen to drive it pretty often cause my maxima needs a stack of small repairs at the moment. At the same time though I wouldnt touch at $6k TDI with a 39 and a half foot pole.
Out of alignment equals rolling resistance…put that together with cold weather (car runs richer) and theres the milage issue. Im betting it was just a bump… go pay for the alignment and move on.
Yea its not slight unfortunately, if i take my hands of the wheel going 70 It’ll jump right into the left lane. I dont recall hitting any potholes or bumps but my it is my GF’s car so Im sure she probably did something stupid and didnt tell me.
It’s probably a bit more complicated than this, but my father in law tried to tell me there was no difference between summer and winter gas. I looked it up and from what I found Butane is a common additive to gasoline and little to none can be used in the summer time because of its vaporization point. They can put more in the gas in the winter time due to lower temps…and that’s why prices drop a bit in the winter too. The gasoline is less pure and so gas mileage drops.
