car just went in for body work

If anybody is interested.

i recently bought my 90 240sx hatchback and finally got some in my area to do my body work for me. it’s gonna cost me $300 a lot cheaper than the $4000 quote that i got from a local body shop. guy said he is going to put in new sheet metal and seal all the rust that was on the drivers side rocker panel, under the tail light, the hatch and the fenders. i’ll put pictures up when i get it back from the guy.

thats a LIE, theres no way hes gonna do all that work and put in sheet metal for 300…

hes just gonna patch it up with bondo

be prepared for rust to pop back up in 6 months…dont believe anything back road shops tell you

actually the under body is really good there is no rust on the frames and when i took it for safety it didn’t pass because of the hole on the drivers side rocker panel. i have talked to some people who he has done body work for and seen the cars he did some work on and they look good and the was no bondo. i used the magnet over the repaired spots.

Good luck. If it turns out your gonna have to let us in on your connection for cheap as body work.

i’ll put up pics of the work as soon as i get it back and you all can judge for yourselves. it’s not a place it’s a guy who does the body work out of the back off his house when i took it there he had a couple of cars he was working like a mkIII supra and a mustang gt. i’ll look for the number and i’ll post it tomorrow

nope. it’s got a good interior, and it came etested. i paid 300

i just picked up the car last night and ll the spots of rust are gone on the car
here is what it looks like now it’s still in primer because i haven’t decide on a color yet. i dropped the car off monday and picked it up on sunday. and the cost was $300. if anybody needs body work i would recommend this guy. Pm me if anybody needs his contact info

Looks pretty good. Are you sure that it is all metal though? I could probably make the body work look that good with fiberglass and bondo.

i just went over all of the spots that were fixed with a magnet and it stuck to all of the places, so yes i am sure now that it is all sheet metal

It looks good except for the first pic where he seems to have screwed the sheet metal into the rocker??

i pretty sure he did. and it’s rivets that he has there. but he did cut out the rusted sheet metal cuase i asked him if i could see what he removed and he showed it to me.

I lol’d. It appears in the first pic that he did some tiny ass tack welds.
