What would you guys suggest to get some shine back into my paint.
I’m painting it at the end of april, but in the mean time i’d prefer not to drive a dull paint car.
I know theres some products like Mothers Clay bar, but any suggestions on the subject?
buy a nice buffer, and some compunds. I believe there is a specific process and about 3 different products u need to do a kick ass paint resto.
100$ for tools and product + 1 afternoon = Blinding shine… Priceless
I think thats the text book method… but just go stare at the paint care wall at canadian tire and grab some products and im sure u will get a decent outcome in the end
^ a greed but if you want to anyways buffer ct 70 bucks and number 3 buffing polish=good wetsand with 2000grit wet paper then repet for maximum perfection but beware buffers can kill your paint if you push to hard or stay in the same spot for to long
Last year I bought a porter-cable buffer and a bunch of products from a place in texas. Pretty good price, and the shit worked amazing. I got a swirl cutter, clay bar, and a polish and it came out really well. I used it on my Camaro and it turned pretty cloudy paint with a bunch of swirls into glass (well, not literally, but it looked damn shiny).
I don’t know if you’re supposed to advertise companies that aren’t sponsors, but I don’t know of any competing sponsors, so the company name is Tropi-care. Most Meguiars stuff is pretty good, and you can get it at Crappy Tire, but I’d suggest getting a Porter Cable buffer since its pretty much impossible to screw up your paint with it, whereas a DeWalt or something along those lines isn’t meant for a amateur. For cars of this age, a clay bar and a swirl cutter of some sort is a MUST. A polish alone won’t make it look much better.
Well im kind of stuck in the situation where i HAVE to paint my car, regardless of how i buff it.
I have the “parked my car in the same spot since 91” fade lol.
The previous owner must have had the same parking spot everyday wherever he may be, and on the one side of my car…the red, has pretty much become orange…
So, in term i guess my only solution is a new paint job.
I’d try what I suggested, and if that doesn’t work, then try some 3M rubbing compound. I’ve seen the worst paint look new with a little elbow grease (and some good product).
Worst case scenario, you blow a little money on polish you’re going to use down the road, but it might save you needing to get a paint job. Wait until someone bumps your car, at least then you’ll have a good reason to get new paint.
