Cars & Coffee @ Eastern Hills Mall (NOT run by Matt)

Thanks man.

Its funny, every one who has seen it in person has changed their tune on it to some degree. But now I am worried it is not Cars and Coffee cool enough :stuck_out_tongue: Back to the drawing board I guess. Maybe I will have Joe get me a deal on the Lotus :stuck_out_tongue: On a serious note, it was a pleasure to meet the owner of the Lotus dealership. Very nice man and great passion.

I don’t see anything wrong with designating certain areas for various cars. The only issue is when you have someone who doesn’t know cars doing it ie. Shredd and Regan cruise night show…

There will always be someone who doesn’t agree that their car should be left out, but if this show is truly meant for high value, exotic, etc… cars, then have a spot for those and another for everything else.

You can’t please everyone, but with the proper organization, I think it can work.

They are not. Nissans are “exotic” without question. I see / agree that it makes sense to separate exotic / non exotic cars, for photo and coolness factor. No problem parking by make either. More coolness. It was a nice turnout and if there’s domestic vehicles there, they’re nice a people will look at them if they choose. To each his own. I looked at just about eveything.

Let’s say there’s a week where all the “exotic” owners are on vacation. Might make for a pretty thin meet without some of the others mixed in.

The thing that I enjoyed most, besides seeing some old friends, was the variety and the total lack of asshats that you get at other meets…There were no booming stereos, no burnouts, no unsafe driving, no stupid things to keep anyone away from bringing themselves, their significant other, their children. It was bordering on perfect.

You left before I did.

Did it get dumb? or did you rip em open in my future car?

Agreed. The crowd and variety was great. I’ve always like these because it tends to attract a more mature crowd and I don’t have to worry about my kid getting hit by someone being a dumbass. My favorite part of C&C’s that I have attended in the past in Detroit have had cars from all kinds of genres. Bought, built, budget, no expense spared, stock and modded all together. And everyone was nice and chill too.

I parked my car somewhat out of the way as it’s seen more track time than show time and I understand that its not much to look at, but it will be rather disappointing if this becomes an exclusionary event. But to each his/her own.

I met Matt as I was leaving, nice guy. From what he said, things get different if it is more than just cars and coffee. If it turns into a car show you can’t just “use” the lot. I can’t remember what exactly he said but things change. Maybe permits or insurance, blah blah blah, like I said I can’t remember.

Lets not over analyze this, just enjoy it for what it is!

That being said the only thing out of place to me was a minivan.

The issue with this is Cars and Coffee is supposed to be a thing for cars owners to come cruise and meet other car owners.

It’s not supposed to be hey I took my daily and walked around like a car show which is one of the ways other places avoid having it called a “car show” and have to get insurance etc

For the next one, I vote a small cruise after from 11-12ish to go get some lunch somewhere.

Maybe, just a little. Nothing crazy. Springtime and all.

I’ve never had a bad experience with lunch.

Elite cars < Elite coffee
Organizers could easily filter out the peasants by charging a small fortune for java.

Ahh gotcha. My buddy must have misheard Dakota, he was thinking that other black Mustang that was with us on the way home was JD. We did have a couple fun pulls with Dakota though lol.

Yeah I understand what you’re saying now. Those were some fun little pulls, but ballsy too ha! We ended up turning off to hit up a small road in West Seneca with a few nice turns just to see the ride difference as he just had it lowered slightly. Nice meeting you!

I understand that my post was vague, however I don’t wish to single any cars, brands, or people out. This event is an all make event, which means just that, however it does not mean all cars. In my statement, I said several cars were questionable, I did not say that I am excluding cars, nor am I making this an elitist gathering either. The cars in reference were unclean, poorly maintained, unkept, and overall not quality vehicles. This goes for all cars. If a Porsche or Lotus was to attend in the same manner, I would hold them to these same standards.

I started this event with the idea in mind that it would be a gathering of higher end automobiles, that you don’t normally see, and they would have an event that actually focused on them, however all Quality vehicles are welcome. There is a difference between quality, and not quality and everyone knows that. If anyone has a problem with a clean, well maintained, quality vehicle parked next to them, then this isn’t the event for them. The whole purpose is to meet, and interact with owners and cars you normally wouldn’t get a chance to. I welcome all quality vehicles to Cars and Coffee, and if your car isn’t quite ready to be in the center of the action, please be respectful and spectate for a show or two until it’s ready to go. I’m not asking for concours level cars, however I think we all can agree that this is an event for quality automobiles. That is what separates it from the Cruise nights, and the amateur hour.

As far as the organization and parking aspect that has been touched upon several times, I cannot do anymore organizing than I am doing right now, or else the social gathering, becomes a car show, and I become responsible. The liability of your actions, becomes my problem. I can’t tell you where to park, and I can’t section off parking for one make or type vehicle because it is now a formal, organized event. I would love to believe me, I’m a photographer myself and lining up all the Porsches, or all the M cars has crossed my mind many times, I simply cannot accept the risk that comes along with it. To hold a car show in Orchard Park, as well hold the event in the plaza we currently meet in, I would need permits, insurance, and the consent of all parties affected. As it is right now, I have the blessing from Orchard Fresh, and the various other companies in the plaza that we can meet there once a month, provided we leave parking spaces available for their patrons, and no one acts like an idiot and does a burn out, or leaves the parking lot filled with garbage. I will commend the attendees so far, everyone has been very respectful of the space, and of each other. That is all I ask for, be respectful of the people, the cars, and the space. We are in Orchard Park, which means that 1 burnout, and Cars and Coffee would be over.

I hope this clears some things up, I apologize for any confusion. With the first event having nearly 200 cars, the event could get of hand very quickly. It is a brand new season, I just wanted to reset the focus, and make sure everyone was on the same page.

With that being said, there will be a lunch drive after the May Cars and Coffee, details will be sent out in the email before the event. Orchard fresh will be preparing fresh breakfast sandwhiches and omelets next month as well the donuts and coffee.

Thank you.

 That clears it up much better than before.

So Matt can’t do anymore but we can BOO and give thumbs down to people who park their meh cars next to the exotics.

haha maybe I should have used sarcasm tags. EvoMR drives a GT-R, hence the irony.

Also, my first “cool car” was a 300zx and I also had a 1 year stint with a 350z roadster. <3 Nissan and I do believe that well kept and tastefully modded 300zx tt fits in nicely with the “high end cars”.

What was perfect was the ass in that long blue skirt. Horray for biking glasses!

I don’t want that.
I actually enjoy this venue quite a bit and even more so when you mention this.

and as far as @Motocrossx23 bringing out the Miata, Keep it looking clean as hell and I think you’ll be ok.

The new black mustang that was there was all stock and fantastic looking in person.
Performance pack, Recaros and a 5.0.

I totally agree, and agree with many 90’s Jap. sports cars in that regard…that is why I brought my MR2 last year…maybe I will bring it again, we’ll see…I try to respect events for what they are, and the crowd seemed more accepting of the Lotus cars…who knows, maybe it is all in my head…
