Cars I've Driven Thread

i use to work at bmw and as such have driven, pretty much every bmw with every option, from 2007 to 1980

obvious favorites
alpina edition z8
regular z8
850csi
regular 850
m coupe that funky z3 based thing very fast, and imo much nicer than the z3 vert
the z3 m
m3 2006 brand new coupe and vert
m5 fast but the m3 is more fun
all the other m cars
notably the original m3, it was in ass condition tho…

a ton of personal package cars with like suede everytihng and exotic leather etc really swanky, there was this one m5 fully custom driven by some mom who didn’t care abotu it at all it was filthy…it was funny shit, she totally didn’t deserve the car

oh yeah being this is a nissan forum u’d proboly like to know the nissans lol

s12 200sx 87-88 300hp ca18det, stock ca18et, and ka24de powered

87 760 volvo wagon turbo intercooled! 450 000km and still had orignal paint and engien ran awesome

bunch of other junk those are hte highlights

1992 240sx 5 speed manual…you know.

1992 Toyota Celica GT-S

  • can’t believe this stickered new for $6K more than the 240sx
  • coarse engine
  • decent tranny
  • ok handling

1992 Acura Integra

  • smooth engine.
  • decent handling
  • nice seats and interior.
  • nice tranny

Acura Integra (third generation can’t remember the year)

  • front end seems so light and fragile.
  • slick tranny, smooth high revving engine.
  • little low end torque.
  • pretty good handling for a FWD car.

2001 Toyota Prius

  • weird, takes some getting use to all the fuel saving tricks.
  • start the engine…normal.
  • try and rev the engine…nothing (doesn’t respond while in Park)
  • CVT acceleration keeps engine speed constant.
  • roll to a stop in traffic, and the gas engine turns off.
  • creep forward in traffic…gas engine stays off…electric engine only.
  • stomp on the accelerator and the gas engine fires up.

2003 Toyota Corolla

  • boring in every way possible
  • probably will never break

2005 VW Jetta 1.8T

  • good power once turbo spools up.
  • good ride and safe handling.

2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6 speed manual.

  • fast car once it’s rolling.
  • +3400 lbs is a lot to get moving from a dead stop.
  • nice handling car but could stand to lose a few hundred of pounds.
  • stability control good for guest drivers, too much of a killjoy though.
  • great sounding exhaust

2006 Lexus IS250 6 speed manual

  • handling vs ride definitely tilted to ride, but still manages to handle pretty good.
  • acceleration decent for the size of engine
  • nicest interior quality in it’s class.
  • slick gearbox.

2006 Subaru WRX STI

  • AWD grip just astonishing.
  • handling limits quite high.
  • flooring the accelerator in first and second addictive
  • $$$ speeding ticket waiting to happen.

2006 Mazda RX-8 6 speed manual

  • handling and ride characteristics are very close to 240sx.
  • 240sx with stock ka24-de might have a bit more low end, mid-range power about the same, top end RX-8 wins.
  • suicide rear doors cool feature, but I’m not sure how solid they’ll remain.
  • back seat is barely usable, better than 240 but not by much.
  • tiny trunk, and tiny pass through from trunk to interior.

The mentionable rentals…

2004 Ford Explorer Sport

  • Yeah right sport…maybe hauling sporting goods…
  • terrible handling.

2004 Ford Taurus 3.0L

  • brutal

2005 Renault Laguna 1.6L Turbo Diesel 6 speed manual

  • impossible to get bad fuel economy despite thrashing the hell out of it.
  • tops out above 180km/h (italian autostrada), and still gets better than 7L/100KM fuel economy
  • turbo diesel = lots of torque
  • turbo diesel = low rev limit
  • good handling car despite narrow 55 series rubber
  • tranny half way decent too.
  • off the line acceleration good, but not much there at higher speeds.
  • good highway cruiser

2006 Dodge Charger 3.5L Auto

  • cool looking car from the outside
  • somewhat cheapo interior
  • acceleration, ride and handling acceptable
  • feels solid (Mercedes E Class roots probably has something to do with it)
  • watched a Georgia State Patrol officer in a cop version (hemi I presume) take off from his ambush location to chase down a guy in a camaro. Very impressive display of acceleration.

2006 Ford Mondeo 2L 5spd Manual

  • after a couple of generations Ford (of Europe) finally did get this one right.
  • eventually tops out around 220km/h (west of berlin, down hill, with a tail wind)
  • spooky handling in cross winds at that speed
  • not much bottom end on this engine, but it does rev nicely
  • great handling car at “normal” speeds
  • why doesn’t Ford sell this car here?
  • only time I’ve blown by a cop at more than 200km/h and laughed!

2006 Skoda Octavia wagon (similar to VW Jetta Wagon) 1.8(?)L Turbo diesel 5spd manual

  • see turbo diesel comments on Renault
  • good acceleration
  • tops out at over 200km/h (german autobahn outside of munich)
  • excellent handling
  • nice seats and interior design/layout

2007 Ford Mustang 6 cyl. automatic

  • lots of noise coming from the exhaust
  • not much acceleration for that much noise
  • terrible ride
  • fun handling
  • interior looks good, but WAY too much cheap hard plastic

2007 Jeep Liberty

  • rough, noisy (in a bad way), gutless, thirsty engine
  • small interior relative to it’s outside dimensions
  • has difficulty travelling down the road straight, so cornering at any moderate speed is best avoided.

2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser auto.

  • sigh…the only thing left on the lot. Rental dude apologized when he handed me the keys.
  • upright seating.
  • decent handling for what it is.

2007 Lincoln Town Car

  • what a boat…you don’t drive it, you guide it.
  • lousy seats.
  • too much car for the engine.
  • huge back seat and trunk.

2007 Chevrolet HHR

  • Chevy tries to make a PT Cruiser and manages to make it worse.
  • claustrophobic interior

2007 Ford Fusion 2L auto

  • gutless
  • decent handling
  • ok interior

2008 Ford Edge Auto

  • slow as hell
  • confortable ride
  • decent handling for an SUV

I have a lot that i’ve just taken for a spin around in, but the most memorable one!

2001 Toyota Echo sedan 1.3L (base model)

  • Great on gas
  • Fits anything and everything
  • takes hits and gets back up
  • Doesnt break, just gets sick then uses some warcraft-esque aura to heal
  • Feels liek you’re driving a much larger car because the wheel has some mad tilt angle to it and the shifter is tall.
  • You can take it off roading
  • i drive it like a rally car
  • and if its hard to park, get 6 grown men to lift it up and move it.

ohyea, the s13 is a good car too.

In chronological order:

99 Hyundai Sonata 4cyl auto. Great car, very reliable, great fuel economy, very well put together. About as interesting as a piece of lint.

87 Toyota Celica GT - Had tons of fun with this until it rusted to pieces.

95 Pontiac Firefly 3cyl - Drove it back from a shop for my uncle. No PS is gay, you need to redline it to keep up with traffic.

93 S13 hatch - pretty good car overall, had lots of fun with it. Could use a better engine and susp though.

KA-T S13 - heeeeeeeelllllll yeaaaaa!

FC Turbo II - Handles soooo much better than our cars it’s downright embarassing.

05 Corolla manual - Pretty good car, main problem is it’s very high up, and actually lifts at highway speeds.

07 Matrix - Doesn’t have that problem, but this one is auto, so it’s gay.

03 Lancer - Corolla is better, except for maybe the lifting at speeds.

02 Mazdaspeed Protege - suprisingly good for a FWD

00 Solara - Handles and brakes like a shit. Good engine, good interior, nice to look at.

04 350Z - Great car, weak interior.

05 G35C - I love this thing. It makes me happy in every possible way.

93 Talon TSI AWD - Can’t wait to pick it up in an hour and a half from now. Hawlz ass and I love the feel of the AWD.

Last night I drove a few cars

08 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro:
-DSG transmission was fun, better then an automatic, but still crappier then a manual
-pretty nice power, for a car this size
-very easy to slide around in the snow, was amazing fun
-AMAZING interior

08 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro Wagon
-Good power, but not as nice as the 3.2
-Slid around a little easier, I’m guessing a slightly longer wheelbase
-Manual transmission was great fun, slick shifter and nice clutch feel
-AMAZING interior

08 Audi A3 2.0T
-Base model interior kinda sucked
-Why would anyone not get the Quattro???
-FWD sucks balls, I couldn’t accelerate, traction control kept kicking in!
-0-60 in about 10 minutes because of traction control
-SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED

84 Honda Accord - fun to mess around with, cant even do a burnout in rain with tires covered with tire shine, i love it. exhaust sounds really good with the custom apple juice can

90± Toyota Tercel - another beater with no brakes, running on like 3 cylinders.

03 Chrysler Sebring - not bad just not my kind of car

05 Chrysler Pasifica - slow, wayyy underpowerd for a 6000 pound car, not that comfortable.

240sx.

Holy fuck Dave! How the hell did you get to drive all those cars? I’m so fucking jealous…

i think someone is living the dream… and its not me :frowning:

Mitsubishi evo 2- 562hp don’t need to say anymore…i almost pissed myself…
Mitsubishi evo 3- close to 460hp grip is ridiculous

Suzuki swift GTI- 1.6l turbo terror…no traction and paper body…LOL…scary
Nissan GTR R33- Hella Fast-couldn’t push it in the wet.
Mazda RX 4- corener carver, not a big cult car where i’m from)
Toyota Levin- 9000rpm glory!!! Vtec that bitches…LOL

moved to Toronto

1997 Audi A4 quattro- fun for the first few months but that about it…
1996 Acura integra ls- nothing special but great on gas.
1989 Nissan 240sx- rust bucket ka24e but fun none the less
1993 Nissan 240sx- less rust ka24de(turbo in it’s future)

Thats just a few… i skipped the test drives…LOL…

The most interesting vehicle I have drivin is the Reactine van, lol.

all acuras, all hondas, all mazdas, all hyundais

2008 - G37
what can i say, i crashed it while drifting

2008 - Mazdaspeed 3
Torque steer monster, power is all in the low rpm, after that. its nothing special

2007 - Mazdaspeed 6
Very fast, but same as the speed 3, nothing amazing

2008 - Mazda RX-8
I really don’t know why people like this car, it sounds nice, feels good to redline at 9k. steering is really dull, power isn’t really there. they should call this thing…the mazda blindspot

1998 - Subaru STi
fast?

2004 - SL55
big, too many buttons

H2 Hummer
Peice of shit

Porche Cayenne
Peice of shit, its all an illusion

uhh i’ll mention my favorite cars ive driven so far

Acura RDX SH-AWD Turbo
i love this car, the ride feels like a tall RSX, handles like a dream. you can seriosuly go up or go down a highway ramp at 100 - 160kms and theres NO PROBLEM. This is the next “NEW” car i would get.

should be more, but this is all that came to me.

Yeah definitely has been amazing. Its just part of the magazine perks over the years.
