Cars you are thinking of buying... *WTF A CAR THREAD?*

Yes and Yes

They had those at the Glen last weekend, set up for autocross type course for anyone that wanted to drive them. @POOPRA & @Jeller and I beat the crap out of one. Sorry about the cones Jaguar USA LOL

Yes

I think more than a few of us would

I’m thinking a GT3 997 would be sweet to have, but if I start thinking about it too much, things wind up in my garage.

X…

I might sell the V2 and pickup a Vette in the future or a used V3 but nothing in the cards yet. If I had more garage space maybe a C1 convertible or Cobra as well.
Other than that the company car plan is working great. My wife’s lease is up in Jan, so I will be watching lease deals in Dec/Jan. New Terrain looks intriguing.

Right now we are enjoying traveling and life experiences.

steel body 32 coupe or something

The issue with all of this stuff is a place to put it. I have always wanted a collection, but never had the foresight to get the storage space before asset acquisition. Now, trying to spend $ on space takes my GT3/Huracan $ away.

There are many days I contemplate selling it all and buying one super exotic, especially since I never drive any of them anyway.

First World Problems

That space thing is the only reason I don’t have a weekend toy car right now. I already have a boat that takes up my entire 2 car garage all summer and the idea of playing musical chairs in the driveway with 3 cars isn’t appealing at all.

Every time I think about getting a new car I think about what other thing I could do with the money or getting a motorcycle.

However, the car thing passes my mind.

In no order.

  1. EVO IX
  2. S2000
  3. E30 M3
  4. Sy/Ty
  5. Some old OBD1 hatch and modding it.

I think we are going to unload my wife’s Allroad in the spring for the new Atlas. We do a lot of road trips for my daughters Irish dance and the GTI is getting a little small with all the shit we need to lug around. The Allroad, if we’re being honest isnt super comfy on long trips, and well, its a 2005 2.7T Allroad…

Dan

I’m going to be unloading my 01 Corolla very soon after I hit 200k…I know the thought of that has many of you salivating.

I still have a hankering for an M100 Elan, have wanted one of these from a distance for a long time now…but am out of space for another car right now…

Gotta lean with Don, Krant, Angrymatt, and others here. I’ll always keep the LOLroad, but pretty sure the rest will be going away over the next few months. Bitten hard by the boating bug, and have a 45 item list of things to do on it over the winter.

I have thought much about a boat too…but with the storage costs, docking costs, maintenance…I keep putting the idea on hold…

Year end I spent $21K+ on day care, +$5k student loan, and whopping $2k/yr car payment in 2016 alone, so I figure in a few years I can swing a $2k per month car payment.

Reality, I don’t race my shitty cars enough. I want to race more. My wife wants a minivan or 3 row SUV, I want a truck to tow shitty cars with, I keep up ending up on Durango R/T, but can’t fully bring myself to buy a Dodge.

Daydream, from a tire design stand point either Spec Corvette or a solid FS class car that could double as a once in a while driver.
The current solid FS cars are (E46 M3 ZCP, E9x M3 ZCP, 2016+ Camaro SS (non 1LE) and 2015+ Mustang GT PP). I like the form factor and interior visability of the BMW better and if miles were kept low I think they would flatline or maybe appreciate. The Camaro and Mustang would depreciate fast and I would care about them less, which is better for the way I take care of cars. I’m watching to see if the updated 2018 Mustang GT PP stays in FS.
Old daydream, '64 Fairlane with MMI suspension (Falcon & Comet would work and be cheaper for the base car, Mustang would be a better return on investment).

All in all I think I rather do something like Team O’neil, and other school type stuff than 30-40 on a chunk of metal.

ill solve it, you buy them, i’ll store them for free but i get to drive them too

I am ALWAYS looking but I end up doing mature shit like buying CNC machines. I just purchased another CNC lathe with sub-spindle, Y axis, live tooling, and gantry loader.
In the last 24 months I have purchased well over $1 million in equipment and not a day goes by that I don’t think about how I could have purchased a 918. LOL.
As far as space goes, I now have a barn but spent over $100K building it… that puts a dent in the car budget.

I have a 2009 chevy express 2500 diesel that i am about to put up for sale. if you are interested let me know. It has a built trans (competition trans), and billet converter, and a clean tune. I use it to haul my race car around currently but i would like a suv since i no longer need the van for work anymore. The van has a bulkhead and full racks on both sides as well as a double ladder rack and even a set of winter wheels. It is in the extremely rare white color.

i need to sell some of my vehicles and i would like to get into a 2013+ audi S8

the list of vehicles to be sold soon

2015 audi A6 with 14K
2009 chevy express (van diesel) with 230K?
2007 mercedes e550 4 matic
2001 audi a6 (going to scrap)

then i get my S8

Maserati GranTurismo convertible. I see them around by the beach and they’re just so f’ing hot in person, not to mention the Ferrari V8. Still out of my price range with no issues and an extended warranty but 1 more promotion would do it. I need a drop top and there aren’t many cool ones out there with 4 seats.

you think you’d get enough use of the drop top up here to make it worth it?

I’d sooner go with an M3/4 convertible myself. CPO with warranty and retains value way better than a Maserati.

I’m in a space now where my M3 has essentially bottomed out in value so i’m just waiting for the new M3 to get into an acceptable price range where i can own it for 6 years and only lose 40% of it’s value over that time… again. Never could do that with a Maserati or a even a Merc.

Ive been eye balling those 570s as well. Think thats the next one(in 10 years lol)

Two cars I constantly check up on and will own at some point:
Alfa Romeo Giulia GT Junior
BMW 2002 Tii

Also; Lancia HF Integrale’s & Renault 5 GT Turbo’s are sweet.

I live in California now  70s and sunny every day and I can count the number of rainy days on 2 hands most years. Perfect vert weather 12 months a year. I agree on the depreciation but that’s why I want to buy one about 5 years old, to take advantage of it.
