Cell boosters?

Do any of these devices actually work…I am going out of town to some remote lake in upstate NY for a week.

The area shows good cell coverage but from other people who have been there it isn’t great.

Any thoughts?

I’ve heard they do work, but have had no personal experience with one

If there’s spotty reception borrow an old Nokia from someone… the iphone has horrible RF.

Well I have a Cingular Air card/IPhone I also have Verizon phone with tethering.

One has to work.

the boosters will not work do to the fact you need to connect it to a high spped interweb connection… IIRC

wat

Looking for data coverage on a remote lake :nerd:

entirely different product

It’s some huge family reunion thing

I guess some of my family own a large number of cabins on some lake in the middle of no where.

dude, I went to a friend’s house in the Adirondacks a few years back, it was HORRIBLE. I had to use their house phone to call in sick to work lol. Nobody’s phones would function no matter what carrier they were on.

if you’re on call, find a coffee shop in town where you can pick up some free wi-fi

so smoke some weed and go fishing…PM JEG if you’re looking for company

oh … but mine is a booster …

are you talking about the sticker thingy

orrrrrr just go a weekend with out it

those things that go under the battery are modern day snake oil.

the only company that I know to make good shit. It’s typically not cheap and you cannot buy direct.

some phones will also have an external antenna port on the back that you can plug an external antenna into, it will generally add a couple decibels, nothing crazy.

Fuck it I will get work to expense satellite internet.

I wasn’t talking about some sticker or other BS…I know they make hardware devices that boost signal with a external.

Jeff set him up with a portable tower or something

you know the air card may just work … my phone does not work at my house but the air card is at like -86db and works just fine

not an option when you are on-call.

Lol, they only deploy the mobile towers for sporting events / concerts when the number of people are going to overload the available channels, and power outages / disasters. but in the event of the later, you better hope you are designated as an emergency responder, because their signals get preference on the tower.

difference of sprint V Verizon bro.
