Cell Carriers - June 2013

I’m shooting for One or One Max (sounds like you’re ‘in’ with the latest news so you probably heard about the One Max Phablet (Note 3 competitor) on AT&T (not sure yet if AT&T will have the One Max - if not One Google Edition is where I’m going to end up).

pick up a used GSM phone you like and get H2O, Net10 or Simple Mobile if you are worried about cost.

I have verizon and I love the service. Never had a problem with them at all.

Like cars, you get what you pay for. You want cheap and shitty, get Sprint / Kias.

Also, verizon is pretty up-to-date on their phone selection. Not sure why you think otherwise.

Took them a while to get certain phones in the past. I haven’t monitored them during the launch of SG4 and HTC DNA (I think that’s the One, just Verizon’s version). Maybe they’ve gotten better. I do constantly hear about their bloatware and such but I guess every carrier has that issue.

That’s why I’m looking for the unlocked HTC One or HTC One Max (Google Editions). I’m done with carriers calling the update shots and the manufacturer skins, carrier bloatware.

I want a CLEAN Android device and that’s it.

I might look into these ‘other’ companies like Straight Talk, etc. once I get an unlocked phone.

I would look into the carriers I mentioned as they run off of ATT for about $50/month and you wont have to give your money to scumbag walmart.

HTC One has a non-removable battery right? I was weary about that about a year ago, hence why I got the S3. As much as I have been an HTC fanboy for almost 10 years, the Samsung phones are just better now.

And if I remember correctly, no expandable memory too. Samsung has always been better than htc I feel. Than again, I hate htc sense.

Sent from my non-removable battery, non-expandable memory iPhone.

Actually looking to go to sprint from verizon; I know its not as great but I refuse to lose my unlimited data. I tether WAY to much with my new job.

However I know sprints service sucks balls compared to verizon but I know a few people with sprint that are for the most part happy.

Verizon unfortunately are a bunch of fuckwads and make you buy a phone outright in order to keep your unlimited data at this point; plus their phone selection as Ilya said sucks balls. Verizon decided that no more grandfathered unlimited data if you renenw your contract and get a subsidized phone. (Though they are getting the HTC one)

For fucks sake I can’t even use google wallet on my phone without side loading it anymore, verizon made google take google wallet off the nexus because they wanna do their own NFC walled BS.

IDK; verizons alright if you get a decent phone and just throw Vanilla android on it. They do put way to much bloatware on their phones. My batterly life goes down by about 2 hours a day with a stock verizon image because they have dumb apps running constantly like My VZW and Backup assistant when I use niether of those pieces of shit.

Plus rep if you get this reference :rofl:rofl

If you have another line on the account, you can use their upgrade to keep your unlimited data. Or find an old person who never upgrades and take theirs

If you spend the bulk of your time in civilization, T-Mobile is amazing. In major population centers it really is hard to beat.

If you spend time in the middle of nowhere, it sucks.

Even before they had LTE, their data still hauled ass.

I usually go that route however everyone on the account has upgraded their phones… idk might just bight the bullet and buy one outright… really don’t want to do it though.

Phone materialship, HTC hands down. Samsung is definitely THE industry leader though.

Both the One and the S4 are neck and neck as far as I am concerned. They are equals and both have pro’s and con’s.

I just like the one piece aluminum shell the new One has. It’s just a sexy phone.

Also, 32GB is more than enough for me. I only have 8GB of music and like 3GB of pictures on my phone…so it’s actually over kill. I don’t need removable storage, etc. and my current HTC EVO 4G LTE has no removable battery and I’m fine with that.

In Cobleskill I usually get between 3-4 bars of 4G on Verizon

I went from sprint to Verizon when the iphone5 came out… Ill never go back. Great service everywheres.

Last week I was out in the middle of a desert outside of Pueblo, CO for work… The only carrier that had service was Verizon and I still had three bars when sprint and AT&T people had zero - 1 bar at times.

I’ve never been anywheres where I don’t have service and an other carrier did.

When I had sprint at times I didn’t even have service in my house!
