Cheap ebay performance header's? Whats the say on em?

Has anyone tried purchasing/installing any ebay performance headers? There are ka24e/de headers and downpipes available in both 4,2,1 and 4,1 for under a bill…

Just curious if anyone has had experience with them and would like to hear your opinions…

I’d consider grabing a 4,2,1 header and downpipe @ 2.5 inch. If it all fits and align’s well I can’t see the harm of a mandrel bent stainless steel piping right?

O yeah~ Anyone happen to know the size of the inlet of the stock header/downpipe? is 2 or 2.25 inch?

The problem with the ebay manifold they brake after a awhile, you will need to reinforce the manifold. If you like I could make you a manifold, top mount or bottom mount.

He was asking about headers (N/A) not a mani. I dont have any experience with ebay headers, I’ve had a hotshot on my car for close to a year now with no problems, it was definatly worth the extra money rather then having to deal with ebay crap. I have heard of the welds breaking/cracking on the ebay headers.

NEVER buy anything on EBAY if its cheap… i once spent $75.00 on a strut bar(ebay no name) and it didnt fit… i doubt the headers will fit either… and can u really afford to risk them cracking or blowing a weld while driving… if all your looking for is some upgraded air then do your exhuast(will sound cooler aswell)
go to bings.ca his is SICK! for the value.
well just my 2cents… but be your own judge.
well u

i picked up a pacesettler header(4-1 KA24E) from ebay for 150, called the pacesetter store and they were selling it for 220. i haven’t installed it yet, so i don’t know if it will fit forsure or not. it was suppose to be black, it was but had some scratches on it, i bitched and got 40$ back, so i only paid 110$. ebay does have some good parts, u just have to buy the name brand parts, not the cheap shit. i got used(1 month still look new) adj. pillowball strut mounts for 75$ from japan. 2 new front struts for 150$(gabriel nothing special) timing kit 70$, kit with all the gaskets and seals for 75$. so there are deals. you just have to weed out the shit.

which header works better? 4-2-1 or 4-1?

lol the header isn’t really any more likely to break than the down pipes/ exhausts cheap kat manifolds and tons of you rock those… if u spoort the exhaust properly it will be fine besides honestly how long are you gonna run the car before you realize you need turbo anyways… your biggest concern will be leaks from bad flanges… but you’ll probably get away with it.

darkside; i’ve heard of pacesetter before but havn’t seen a 4,2,1 for the sohc ka. and as Heatw says if its a matter of how long it will last; not a issue for me.
from what i understand 4,1 is for high end and 4,2,1 is low-mid gain. someone correct me if i am wrong. GT2 schoolastics lol!

Cryptic; Thanks for your thoughts. Whats a KAe tho still; I actually can afford it cracking. And I also already have an exaust/sounding cool isn’t an issue.

Heatw; Leaks from bad flanges you say? You mean from the flange weld? or like from the connection end due to shit gaskets?

that is the header i picked up, there was another pacesetter, black as well, 4-1 but the length of the header itself was probably half that of the size of this one(if that makes sence).

so if your right, then a 4-1 would be better for the sohc being that it has good low end torque, and kinda gives out when you get in the top end. i’m not looking for a 300hp n/a kae, but for my first build i’d like to have better handling, and some more pep to it. has anyone turbo’d a kae?

darkside; sorry, i meant 4,1 is for highend torque gain… from what i heard… but could be wrong…

i myself am looking for low-mid end gain; hence the pursuit of 4,2,1.

i put the 421 on my last sohc from ebay, the flange was good and all the bolt holes lined up, no cracks on the welds either, the only problem was it hit the floor where it bent uner the car, i just heated it up and made some adjustments to the floor and it was good to go, but it was certainly a tight fit. worked well though and couldnt beat the price. and like was said earlier, your goona turbo it sooner than later once you start striving for more power so cheap out now and save up for your turbo setup. thats JMHO good luck

btw what i meant by bad flanges is in some cases the flange is warped from welding so it doesn’t sit flat and no matter how good the gasket is it will eventually leak if not right away. but this is more of a problem on the 6cyl ebay manifolds, but it is a problem that comes up
