is he gonna be running with the windows open? my bet if he ran with them closed, the driver would suffocate (the engine sucking up all the air, and of course, heating that place up pretty fast)
anyway, sweet looking setup so far! (even though it’s still sorta choppy)
315/60/15’s MT drag radials
top is chopped 8"
The side windows will pop open in the front to scoop in some air.
pump gas street engine. 522 CID 7.7:1 Hyd roller cam with solid lifters
It’s a street/strip machine.
full length roll cage
lexan firewall between the engine and driver
shoulda went wider tire…
holy hell
Any idea how thick the Lexan will be? Cause if any part of that motor goes… with the proximity to the driver, I think he would need a 1/4" plate of steel to maybe protect him.
Cool idea though and I like the chopped top on this one.
What is with all of these marine engines in street aps? Just wondering if there is a distinct benifit.
Cool project though.
lol very cool  always been a fan of obscure projects
Thats sick. But yes, that is too close for comfort. Lexan or not, nothing is built perfectly.
I’m not really sure what to say about that. Its interesting.
I KNOW MY NEXT PROJECT
the chopped top ruined it, looks more like an early 80’s delivery van now. cool project though.
That is tits
heavier construction, things like double-roller timing chains, heads with hard seats and premium valves, brass freeze plugs, cams that focus on torque rather than HP to get the boat on the plane, etc.
plus, if it was a block from a boat, it’s pretty well seasoned.
some guys also use the olds 350 diesel blocks, with the 3" 4-bolt mains (regular 350’s used 2.5" mains).
Thank you very much. Good info!
that would be a nice toy
no prob. buddy of mine has a cherry '74 monte, he put a stroked 383 using a 350 marine block in it.
What the hell are you guys talking about with “marine blocks”. They are all the same blocks, also the 350 diesel’s werent any stronger where it mattered thats why they all blew to hell. 4 bolts a 4 bolt, 2 bolts a 2 bolt, dont matter if it was a diesel bomb or not.
now thats what the A-Team needed
yeah, i know for a fact that mercruiser at least uses standard size gm blocks in their motors, 350’s n 454’s. im not sure on ALL the differences of marine/automotive, but marine engines are water cooled and are mostly carbed. looks like on mercruise website most of the smaller motors are still carbed. Larger motors are MPI, but yeah almost positive the blocks are identical
