[homer]Oooh the app store![/homer] :cjerk:
I may wait. The internets say it could be coming in May.
Yeah, the app store is gay. I hate having the option of having all this always with me:
Real time weather (temp, wind speed, direction etc), Weatherbug app
A Location aware yellow pages, YPMobile app
A song identifier, Shazam app
A GPS with Turn by turn and voice, xGPS app (jailbreak only for now)
A pretty accurate dyno, Dynolicious app
A flashlight, Flashlight app
A GPS speedometer, Speed app
A marine chartplotter, iNavX app
A interactive sports ticker, SportsTap app
A location aware restaurant guide, Urbanspoon app
A remote desktop client, LogMeIn app
A internet radio, Pandora app
A level, iHandy level app
A flight tracker, Flight Status app
A pedometer, iMapMyRun app
An Amazon Kindle, Kindle app
Oh, and lots and lots of games.
I’m out though. I’ll let the verizon humpers take back over and go back to my iphone humping thread.
lol :gtfo:
I haven’t tried any other PDAs in a while. Are any other interfaces as good as the iPhones?
(Serious question)
I could never use anything but BB anymore. its so incredibly simple and intuitive.
Pretty subjective question. If there was a point in time where you thought that the iphone was the best, then no I doubt that there is anything you would like better. WinMo’s interface hasn’t changed, well, ever. You can get some nice interfaces like SPB Mobile Shell, but there will always be a need for a stylus.
BB is just different. The touch BB is pretty good, but I don’t think it’ll be converting any iphone humpers.
True. I used to have a blackjack and I think the iPhone interface is MUCH better then WinMo.
On the Touch BB, can you disable how it has to be pressed all the way down to register what you are touching? So it just registers just when you touch the screen?
I think it’s only typing letters that have to be “clicked”? Or something like that. It definitely registers just touch. Maybe it won’t take action until you push it?
That’s what I mean. Anyone have it?
I have tried to use the Storm, Voyager, Blackjack, Vu, and Omnia along with my iPhone.
I might sound like a fanboy which I am but I have yet to come across a phone that meets the touch screen interface of the iPhone. The storm was very cool but the shape was weird and they seemed to come up short on the touch screen and could have done more with the touching a letter and then pressing it. I know multiple people who have used it and returned it and know people who have it and love it.
The WinMo based phones were just strange for me. Didn’t seem to have the cool app support and wasn’t a fan of the overall interface. The Omnia seemed to improve it a little bit and isn’t there a new version coming out soon(?). Also, it seemed that there was different versions that decided what features you could use on the OS.
It really is preference. Anyone can get up on a soapbox and tell you that their phone is the best but the only way is to go play with phones and pick one you like in the store. If you don’t like it, take advantage of the 15 day return policy and get another one.
May I also through the LG Dare out there. Full touch screen, can use email and internet. programs move fast. I tried the Omnia, and the programs where to slow. It was between the curve and dare for me, i didn’t need the full use of the curve so I went dare. Had it 2 weeks and love it. Its a need little toy. Not sure of its GSM or whatever you need for traveling out of the country though.
My girlfriend has had her Dare since the summer time. It didn’t take until ~1 or 2 months ago for her to regret it. That touchscreen hardware is horrible and after a while, it gets frustrating.
Fry, will you be travelling abroad with your new position? That might be something to take into consideration.
9630= world phone :tup:
I’ll have frequent trips to the exotic 3rd world city of Syracuse. That’s about it though. I only go abroad with my broad these days, so I don’t really “need” it.
Side note: I was overseas all the fucking time with my first job out of school. I got better reception with my t-mobile phone on the west coast of Africa than I did in West Seneca.
All that - and my AT&T blackberries still drop 3 times driving from Park and 50th to the midtown tunnel. (less than a mile).
Sigh.
Wait for Niagra fry.
For those too lazy to find the Niagara, it’s the one on the right. Sized right between the Bold and the Curve. Same guts (essentially) as the Storm. Runs OS 4.7.1.xxx. Sexxxy.
get a shiny new carrier too and ditch VZW for an iPhone
 SHUT UP ABOUT THE IPHONE!!! I DON’T WANT THAT OVERHYPED SMUDGY HANDICAPPED PIECE OF SHIT!!!
