Chugging sr20det

Im hoping someone can help me with this. im going to try and describe the situation as best as possible.

basically what’s happening is two things, that could be linked for all i know

  1. the car only seems to boost sometimes, and its never really strong boost. if you stomp on it the car seems to climb in revs and accelerate, but boost either kicks in weekly or kicks in but really late, like 45000 rpm.

  2. the second issue is the car stalls out sometimes when you put the clutch in when coming to a stop. the revs drop as normal, but continue to fall past one, and then the car stalls. aslo sometimes when driving away after starting the car up, if you let the clutch out normally (smoothly) the car will ‘chug’ or jerk almost like im a newb standard driver (kinda embarrassing :S)

now i’ve added an aftermarket BOV that is t’d to one of the intake vacume lines, and the car has a newly rebuilt turbo on it

its a s13 180sx.

please help me :frowning:

Is BOV recirculated back into the intake or vented in the atmosphere??

check the turbo , and the gaskets on the exhaust side that are on the turbo.

What Varun said or maybe a vacuum leak…

to atmosphere

when i replaced the turbo i did all new gaskets…

may be a newb question, but how might i do this? im sure i tightened all the clamps on the piping when i replaced the turbo… in fact ive checked them and they are tight… might it be a leaking vacuum line?

ps sorry for the triple post, i couldn’t figure out how to quote all three in one hit :S

With the BOV venting to atmosphere, the ECU might be dumping too much fuel in relation to air.
The ECU accounted for air going by the MAF, but some of the air is not going into the engine Since the ECU still sent fuel for what was measured, the result is a very rich mix and bogging

Try to recirculate the BOV and see if runs any better

Jeff

will try that… thnks
