I think clarkson picked it because it’s a fresh simple formula of less is more in a world of super heavy + lots of power. The statement is that we need more like this.
Put this thing around watkins glen and 99% of nyspeed would find that power is not the weak area.
Unfortunately a majority of average consumers do not care about that . They want to mash the gas from the light and be able to beat the fggt in the lane next to them as their 2lane road merges into one. They don’t say “hey wait until we get onto the thruway and I’ll pass you on the onramp !”
Like I said, the Miata guys LOVE this car. Because its just as nimble and quick as our cars. It’s more loaded than the Miata though, which is something I love about my car, no frills.
Have to make my way over to west herr and take one for a ride, I can say that sales on the Genesis Coupe have increased from this car. People come over from driving that and i would say about 50% buy the Genesis. From what customers say the Genesis is a much better decision for a DD (bigger, ride quality, road noise, power, warranty, features, etc) but the fr-s is more miata (track toy, weekend car) type of vehicle.
