Clunky M6

any idea what would cause a manual tranny to be clunky? I think i broke somethin slamming it into 2nd that same day i torqued the exhaust loose (same day i got it put on)… JJ’s guys… when i was down there, i was complaining of it, but it was really busy, and my problems were the least of importance (not complaining)…
but, if you’re going into a turn off-camber and bumpy, if you have the clutch in, it’ll clunk around really bad… you can hear it (its perty loud) and you can feel it in the shifter… if the clutch is engaged (car in gear) it doesnt clunk around like that… as far as i could tell, tranny mounts are fine, plus, the shifter doesn’t move, you can just feel a nasty clunking…
i guess when the motor gets torn outta the car next week, we’ll check everythign out, but i just wanna get an idea of what to look for…
my father mentioned a bad throw-out bearing, but like he said, he doesn’t know much other than old muscle cars (he had plenty of them) and he’s not real up to date on the new age cars…

so… :dunno:

if u can stop by.i’ll check it!

hows the torque arm?

this is what happens when you buy a vehicle thats been beat to hell and back. later on down the road you encouter problems.

esp if i tradded it in :fart:

yea poor TA owner, and poor future comp G owner

umm… we’ll see what happens… i won’t be able to make it all the way down there by this weekend, and like i said, next week its getting torn apart… and when its apart, i guess hopefully we’ll be able to see something … but… i’ll keep you posted and let you know how things are going… might still need to come see ya … never konw with my luck

*edit: and after the cam is put in, i’ll have to come down to see Sam to tune it anyhow… so i’ll be down eventually… just, with any luck, i wont need you too look at it… keep my hopes high

check tq arm & trans mounts!
