im finally done with school so im heading back and i need to deal with this problem. my gsr is somehow getting air in the clutch lines and then has a really short engagement and engages only once im basically all the way off the clutch pedal. i figured my slave cylinder was shot so i took it in over one of my short breaks a month ago to have it replaced and that did not solve the problem. any ideas wtf is letting air in? i dont want to just start buying more stuff and still have this problem
no one???
Just because your clutch engages very late in the petal does not mean that there is air in your lines or even an issue. On a Honda I believe you can adjust where the engagement is by adjusting the rod attached to the clutch petal that pushes in the piston on the clutch master cylinder.
If there is air in your lines (or any type of hardware failure) when you push the clutch to the floor, put the car in gear and just hold the petal on the floor and the car starts moving (clutch slowly starts to engage) you’ve got a problem.
It’s possible also that your clutch may be wearing out a bit. As the clutch surface gets worn, material is lost and the clutch will grab later.
Hope this helps.
i forgot to mention - when i bleed the clutch out i do find air in there and then the clutch goes back to where it normally engages. then a couple days later it comes back to this state. also the clutch is new i put one in earlier in the beginning of the winter
If you have air going, you most likely have fluid going out.
Does the volume drop in the master?
Your clutch fork and clutch wear will affect the grabbing point, air will make give it a flat spot in engagement and disengagents, possibly shifting it at as well.
That’s what I figured but I don’t notice the fluid dropping… Its possible its moving a little and I’m not noticing. I mean everytime I bleed it out its good for a little bit so I’m pretty sure its leaking somewhere I just don’t know where
Mark the level with a sharpie or something.
Does the clutch ever slip?
Next time you bleed it, try to use the clutch pedal a bunch of times and see if it shifts in the point. If it doesn’t sneak in air while being under hydraulic pressure it’s damn unlikely to just do it over time on it’s own.
How old is the car? Try a new master maybe? Slave and master are recommended to be replaced in pairs.
sounds like the slave is leaking to me . pull the rubber boot back and see if its damp there at all . if so replce with a new one and bleed out
the slave was just replaced
You got one part left then… I would check to see what is wet or what doesn’t have paint on it anymore ie. firewall. My master did this in my TA. Couldn’t get the clutch to disengage to shift and car would creep at idle with clutch pedal to the floor.
The master could be internally leaking as well, I had that problem once. It would always pull bubbles through the line for some reason.
Where you get the slave from?
Sometimes new parts are bad.
idk i didnt have the time to get it fixed myself because it was during one of my breaks so i just left it at dilorenzos. i will probably go ahead and replace my master then after i take a good look around
tell charlie or joey than johns maroon camaro is gonna whip anything they have ass
THREAD REVIVAL
i put the master cylinder in and its been bleed properly (aka i didnt do it lol)… but now when im driving the pedal will get very stiff and the clutch pedal freeplay dissapears. it wont go into gear at all and it sound like its gunna stall out when i manage to wedge it into a gear. sooo the clutch isnt fully disengaging? also it goes into any gear fine when its off, but when i turn it back on it wont go in gear. and if i leave it overnight when i turn it on in the morning its fine again until the engine is warm… anyone know what is happening here? thanks
Youre boiling the brake fluid somehow.
I had a similar issue with dragging caliper on the bike because of a clogged bleeder valve channel on the master.
Fine for a while until it got hot, then slowly just stops the bike dead.
I had to open up the bleeder and introduce air to release the brakes and ride on.
if that were the issue wouldnt it still difficult to put in gear even when the cars off until it cools down?
Actually, to think of it, it would behave differently.
So as soon as the car is off it works fine?
yeah i actually turned it off to get it in gear when i was at a stoplight just so i could get it home. goes right in
the pedal is still very stiff though
Is it making any noise? Quiet squeal or anything? Sure the master is good?
