Come Play Battlefield (BF2, BF3 & Now BF4)

Yeah I’m still learning how to do stuff as well as it is slightly different than BF2.

The controls are the same as BC2 on xbox. It took me a while to figure out some of the weapon and vehicle features though, 2 or 3 attempts at shooting a tank with a stinger or heat seeker, all ended badly.

I’m really mad that vehicles self heal though, WTF is with that? Self healing players are bad enough, makes the medic/assault class mostly useless.

I am terrible at this game…

You are not the only one. It’s definitely hard to see your opponents depending on the map you are playing.

BTW I had no idea you were in my party Onyx. I found out after I closed the game. Get a mic and yell out your frustration with us.

Very different from BF2. I absolutely hate that you have to unlock basic vehicle functionalities.

i dont have much of a problem with that than I do with the fact that I start shooting at someone first but they still end up killing me!!

in reality this is BC3 not BF3. With that being said I still love the game. Def. preferred over MW2/BO/MW3

Tidbit I discovered: Origin friends ≠ BF3/Battlelog friends.

Correct but you have to import them into battlelog for them to show up. Unless they have changed it since the beta.

Added all you guys.

Except I can add Onyx from battlelog (finally), but not Origin, it says he doesn’t exist.

That’s because I made my Origin account private. :snky:

what is punkbuster?

Keeps hackers out.

Looks like the “kicked by admin” problem was a PunkBuster issue. See here to update your version: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadview/2832654489422536365/

omg, turned up the graphics to Ultra. WOW. and it runs very very smooth

^What video card? Mine was choppy.

XFX Radeon HD 5870.

OMG, the light heli is AWESOME. Finally they made helicopters maneuverable instead of a wallowing boat in the sky.

Nobody seems to expect strafing runs on foot soldiers or light vehicles from the scout chopper.

I think I’ve decided that I don’t like the map design for a lot of the maps and I wondered if other people felt the same way.

They don’t feel like Battlefield maps, grand bazaar, operation metro, seine crossing, and damavand peak all share some things that I don’t like.

They all have very well defined paths that are all but impossible to deviate from. These are infantry based maps, like nelson bay or white pass in BC2. Nelson had obvious pathways, but it was easy to ignore them and go your own way, jumping down ledges, cutting through forest, or blasting through buildings that are in the way.

None of the BF3 maps allow this, the most destruction we get is blowing the faces off buildings(with great animations btw), the fighting takes place in corridors that can’t be destroyed or modified in some way during the game, there are very few pathways that lead to objectives, it’s nearly impossible it flank.

On nelson bay, it was easy to flank, there are no corridors that serve as choke points, the maps were very open to interpretation and each game could be different based on how things develop. The BF3 maps feel like someone had an idea how they should be played and that is being forced on me, if I want to capture an objective, I must go through hall A, B, or C. On nelson, I could pick a complicated path through foliage, around buildings, around land features and to an objective. My enemies could destroy my cover to make paths less appealing.

I’m alright with the design of the bigger maps, but they are barren and no fun(remember I’m on console with a max of 24 players). I think that 1 jet, 1 heli(maybe 2, 1 attack and 1 scout, maybe), 1 tank, and a bunch of jeeps or ATVs, with longer spawn times for the attack vehicles, would make things more interesting.

I think that Bad Company 2 is probably the best shooter that I’ve ever played, I don’t think that with the current list of maps BF3 will unseat it. I don’t think there are any good ways of fixing the infantry maps, and the large vehicle based maps need a decent amount of overhauling. I think BC2 is probably going to keep it’s spot as the best.
