Coming soon:'ZCorr' Zero corrosion/ rust preventing gun bags

I’ll square this up with Vlad in a bit (hit me up on aim

I’m working for a company that has created its own special version of “VCI” material.

VCI/VpCI is Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor, or Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor depending on where you look it up.

It works by putting special powered chemicals into the plastic as its made. The powder is volatile, moving from solid immediately to gas. In its gas form the VCI Ions bond with the metal surface forming a barrier to corrosion causing molecules.

Even if the metal has cracks and holes from previously existing rust the VCI gases will be able to get in to form its barrier, unlike wipes or oils. In fact, the way the material is tested for effectiveness is to rough up razor blades with sand paper, put them in the bag, then spray them with a salt water solution. Needless to say, the ones not packed in our bags will rust almost immediately.

My company uses this material and other specialized flexible materials to pack and protect everything from mothballed C130s to ducting for the space shuttle.

A while ago we used our VCI material to make gun bags for the Marine corps which was very successful: http://www.zcorrproducts.com/pages/military-origins

as an offshoot of this we created a civilian version of the bag allowing us to pickup on some more retail sales rather than solely on custom order military equipment.

Since the redesign of www.zcorrproducts.com/ I have convinced the owners that I have enough friends with weapons to take over NY by force and therefore will be getting my own coupon code to hand out as I see fit.

I don’t have my coupon code yet, but I wanted to post some info up to gauge interest.

The bags sell for $8 pistol sized, $12 rifle sized, and $15 assault rifle sized. I’m guessing my coupon code will give somewhere around 15% off, hopefully 20.

Who’s in?

thats pretty cool stuff dude, could use stuff in alot of different ways, i dont have any use for the bags for guns tho, they dont rust at a horrible rate as far as what i’ve seen

I’m trying to talk them into doing some just general purpose bags, I know I have my turbo and manifold stored in one.

All weapons rust, the rate at which they do just depends on how well you clean them and oil them and how you handle them. Of course the bags serve a greater purpose if you plan on storing them for a long time, in fact a huge number of people that buy them are collectors.

I’d be in for a few. Can they make one in an XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL size to put my cars in over winter?

I think this would be a HUGE market if you made the bags to fit over engines on engine stands. It sure beats the weekly soaking with wd-40 inbetween parts installations.

I can make you one and bill it as a prototype… things to note: we have 3 different types of our material, one has a foil layer in it (gun bags) that once sealed up the outside edges may be abrasive, we have another material that is tranlucent, and another that is similar to the first but with a special coating in the outside foil to resist delamination in UV-rays. (the first two if left in the sunlight will only last a year or so.)

The clear material doesn’t have a foil barrier layer and therefore the amount of VCIs within the container will decay over time being less and less effective (my guess would be 3-4 years). The regular foil material would probably last 20+ years (but we’re not allowed to advertise it because it hasn’t been tested for 20 years.)

I’ll post pictures and more info later tonight.

that is interesting shit

It is, tons of uses for it too, the even put the VCIs into oil pipe lines to prevent corrosion and into concrete to prevent re-bar from corroding.

Here is our clear material:

and the foil barrier material that the gun bags are made from:

that is actually part of bearing covers that we make for GE turbines… A company makes yaw and pitch bearings for GE, ships them over to them and they sit in outdoor storage for months. Before they would be completely corroded and seized up before GE got a chance to get everything assembled… now they can stack them up as high as they want and use them regardless of how long they’ve been sitting.

no one is interested?

I’m gonna look like a jackass

try www.nyfirearms.com

might find more buys their

In the future I may help “push” this product on sites like that. But right now I’m just offering it to the people I know for a few bucks off.

This is actually really cool!

This could be used for tonssss of applications

there are thousands of applications and nearly as many different forms of VCIs.

some examples,
-additives into oil for oil pipelines prevent corrosion with in them,
-additives for water and cooling applications everything from your car’s radiator to nuclear power stations cooling units.
-additives in paint for navel vessels
-water based additives to hose down navel vessels in between hulls where people can’t actually get to
-shrink VCI film for mothballing military equipment, everything from B52’s to F14s

bah, just found a link. My company specializes in all this stuff, but our patent (pending) is specifically on only 3 different types of these. the corporation that does all of it is Cortec and they make just about anything (and we can get any of it)

Caps, think of like a shower cap with an elastic band around the bottom. We make huge versions of these to cover room sized “objects” (sorry, can’t say what they are)

and at last, the VCI Millcor shrink material. Uber expensive, thick, material mostly used for military applications. We’re doing some huge covers out of these right now.

I think the last one I’m missing is VCI paper, which is the military’s old school favorite from back in the day. We just recently completely an order for flat bags for armor plating for the strykers.

this shit is so awesome! it would be killer for storing a car over the winter like cossey said, and i think wayne got it right with the engine/stand idea! how long has the government been using this stuff?

Long time on the paper based packaging products, I beleive mid WW2 or korean war era they they packed rifles dry in them (no need for oil or anything).

They fun stuff hasn’t come around until probably 70s-80s when they began to co-extrude it with various plastics making it durable enough to allow for more than one time use for some products and to also lower the cost of production of one time use packaging.

the paper stuff is popular for OEM’s to put them in their disc brake boxes

this is really cool and gives me some ideas

LOL, no one wants these? they’re only a few bucks.

Well, regaurdless I talked with the pres. and they’re going to add a “custom” option on the site so you can buy a bag to toss a head or crank in if you want.

hey everyone, I just got some good news on this. The website structure has finally been changed and my boss has set me up as a sales representative in charge of marketing for new media.

With this I will be getting a coupon codes for customers who either are in the military or for anyone who becomes a fan of our facebook page (which I am still putting together at this time).

We have also created another universal bag product which is great for car guys who just want a VCI bag for metal parts as opposed to a gun specific size/shape bag.

Finally set something up on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Zcorr-Zero-Corrosion-Products/109009045783717?ref=ts

I encourage you all to join and let me know if you plan on purchasing any.
