It was a very long broadcast but I remember they were reporting on the first plane and then the second plane hit. Howard pretty much got everyone who could call in and say what they saw. Cabby was in tears freaking out. Howard instantly blamed bin laden and was calling for nukes. It was really just a good broadcast IMO bcause he had regular people calling in and saying what they saw and not news people. The broadcast went several hours over because he was doing a good job.
I was working at the airport at the time and remember being glued to the radio. Then looking at the sky and 6 jets in a row were lined up on an approach. You could see the landing lights for miles and then it was just silent. The silence was by far them most unsettling part of the day for me because I knew why it was silent. All the planes that got re routed to buffalo was staggering and you couldn’t help but think if one of those was one that was supposed to be used in the attack as well.
I was working at the Galleria at the time and I opened that day. I remember hearing all kinds of planes coming over when I got there. I couldn’t help but think that one may crash into the mall. I was so paranoid.
I think anyone that was alive during this will remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when this happened.
I remember it like it happened yesterday. I hated how unresponsive my American classmates were. I was the only Canadian in the room, and the only one that felt the weight of the situation.
i remember i was walking to 3rd period “life skills” and a friend told me in the hall what had happened. i didnt believe him, then i went to the class and they had a tv on and we watched both towers collapse
I was walking in the Student Union… saw a huge crowd gathered around the TV. First thing i did was call my parents who live in the city. I kept getting a busy cell signal. Probably watched the news for 14 hours straight that day.
I remember listening to this live at work in my old law firm in East Aurora and then thinking Howard was full of shit and going to the conference room and then seeing the second plane slam into the building live, crazy shit, a day i will never forget.
