Coolant (anti-freeze) corrosive to galvanized steel? *pics*

I needed to make an adapter for a water temp gauge so I went and
bought a 35mm galvanized tubing from Home Depot and had my dad weld
on a threaded adapter.

This tube will go between the upper-rad hose (once I cut the hose in 1/2).

The big question is.
Will this tubing corrode from coolant over time? I
doubt it will corrode to the point that it will leak but I don’t want like
the metal to slowly deteriorate and pollute the coolant (as whacked as
it may sound).

This is what it looks like on Phil’s KA-T. The piece he has is made by GReddy ($60-$75CAD).
It’s the blue piece you see between his upper rad hose.

THIS IS NOT MY CAR

Here is the adapter my dad made (cost me $4 for the tubing).
The copper piece is the Autometer temperature probe (used by electric gauges):

Yes. Over 100 years. I don’t think you have to worry about any corrosion for the life of the car though …

Do you think that the metal will absorbe the heat and give you faulty readings?

No

My dad can’t weld. He had someone else do the welding. And I guess
that person probablly knows about it.

In anycase, I guess this is ok then. My dad tells me to paint the metal (inside and out).
Don’t know if that’s a good idea. Comments?

Where did you get that fitting that is welded onto the pipe?

My dad fabbed some little cylindrical metal piece which he then drilled
and tapped threads onto. He then drilled a hole on the tubing and placed
this metal piece in and welded it on.

I highly doubt that the coolant will corrode the metal.

OT: That’s a nice weld!

I have the same piece to extend one of my coolant hoses when i did the swap, and it turned rust colour, but has not leaked yet, and we are going on 3/4 year.
