When changing oil this past weekend I noticed that my front coilovers have completely corroded below the plastic protective sleeve. I know they’re/were galvanized steel…
What would be the best way to repair them? Paint?
Can they be re-galvanized?
Im only worried that they paint would muck up the fine threads of the adjustable perches.

trade it in and get rid of the VW:dunno:

I don’t think you can paint over top of galvanized steel.
you can try using epoxies but be careful with galvanized. it can make you sick so be careful
I think this is true… It’s like trying to paint silicone…

isnt galvanized steel just steel coated in zinc, like a gaurd rail or swing set post? i think you can buy that in a spray can. it probably would muck up the threads like you said, but arent they binded up anyway?
