Zinc plating hardware/parts

Anyone know where I can get this done or know anyone local with a DIY kit? I de-rusted a lot of hardware just to have it rust again, I’d love to see the price on plating it.

nope, but i can powder coat them clear for you, or black or whatever color you want.

I would be concerned about the clearances that powder coat would change. Thanks though.

I don’t see why this isn’t more common. This guy in the UK got a whole pile of stuff done for less than $70

i have zinc coated shocks on the truck and the salt last winter destroyed them!

they have a DIY kit, but I’d rather just send these out and not waste my time with it.

Like any type of corrosion protection lots of variables can effect it. black, clear, yellow zinc all offer different protection. How well they are applied matters. How much is scraped off when you thread on a nut matters… Don’t assume that zinc plating is a hoax.

opp sry by hardware i thought you ment brackets and whatnot. yea i wouldn’t recomend pwdr coating the threads either.

gotcha, I actually meant to type fasteners, my bad.

I found this from a place that does MIL spec stuff

Use PCI, their plating is top notch and used by military.

Parts going under heavy corrosion stress should be cadmium plated. Zinc plating doesn’t hold up well to direct corrosion. Zinc and tri-alloy plating would be best suited for most hardware. suspension hardware- cadmium.

cadmium plating is toxic though, thus the costs involved with it are higher than cheaper zinc platings.

i believe its clear coating and it looked sweet when i got them! just now they look old :banghead

I can’t seem to find anything on PCI. Do you have a link or contact info?
