Blame the noobie mechanic for this one… When I put the motor back together, I put the oring in the block, then the thermostat then the plastic radiator flange on… I read the bently this time and saw that it goes block-thermostat-oring-flange. So I assume that the flang on the thermostat didnt seal well against the plastic rad. hose flange and just allways blew by. OR the orentation of the thermostat in the car was wronge. They say that your suposed to place the thermostat in the block clocked so that the support pridge piece on the thermostat is vertical, and it wasnt. But that I dont get becasue it physically fits in there the no mater what way is sits, and I dont see how the cyclinder will work differently with it clocked different ways.
who knows, I put a new one in anyway, the correct way and it works like a champ.
Runs perfectly now, backed the boost off to 16psi and I am around 16.5deg timing and it pulls great, still way more than anyone needs for a daily let alone the cold weather duty it will have to do for the next few months but I am happy with it.
