I work as a contractor for a lot of companies all over. A question came up about people who are hourly and out of sick days, do you come in and bear it and risk infecting the office or do you take a day off without pay.
Any companies have policies in place addressing this?
My wife’s work is stating that NYS is mandating swine flu and flu shots for certain occupations. The thing is she hasn’t seen any NYS law stating this is mandatory. My wife is protesting the shots.
I’m at a small privately owned company and we don’t have a set number of sick days. Officially it’s “managers discretion”, but basically they say if you’re sick stay home. We just canned a guy who abused it. He would call in “sick” every Canadian holiday (dual citizen, lived over there) in addition to several times with car problems. The rest of the people here are responsible about it.
they are new lol, im iffy on a swine flu shot also. there might be a larger % of people who contract the swine from the shots. i know i wont be getting one
Always do what the government asks you to do when it comes to vaccinations.
Waiting in long lines at schools and clinics, more than 40 million Americans — almost 25% of the population — received the swine flu vaccine before the program was halted in December after 10 weeks.
More than 500 people are thought to have developed Guillain-Barre syndrome after receiving the vaccine and 25 died. No one completely understands what causes Guillain-Barre in certain people, but the condition can develop after a bout with infection or following surgery or vaccination. The federal government paid millions in damages to people who developed the condition or their families.
However, the pandemic, which some experts estimated at the time could infect 50 million to 60 million Americans, never unfolded. Only about 200 cases of swine flu and one death were ultimately reported in the U.S., the CDC said.
I just deleted my mom’s number from my cell phone. That’s because she called me in a panic after seeing a special on CNN about swine flu asking me what she should do. How about getting a clue, mom? Idiot.
You’re all idiots. If you’ve spent more than a few minutes worrying about swine flu, you are an idiot. That’s because it only takes a few minutes to look up the symptoms, mortality rate, and treatment to realize that it’s no different from the common flu (which kills way more people and by extension is way more awesome), and going back to whatever it is you were doing, which was probably turning off CNN and canceling your cable subscription…
Exactly what JayS posted. We got to do what the government wants us to do. :cjerk:
My wife works at Roswell Park. Hell, I’ll post the message they sent out to all staff there:
We have just received notification from the New York State Department of Health that all healthcare personnel will be required to receive the influenza vaccinations, also known as the flu shot. This includes all Roswell Park Cancer Institute employees, paid and unpaid, who have direct contact with patients as well as those who have contact with employees who have direct contact with patients. Although, this state requirement directly impacts everyone working in the main hospital, because we are an open campus and have a unique patient population, this requirement does extend to all employees and volunteers working at Roswell Park.
The Department of Health has mandated this as a condition of employment, similar to the annual health assessment and PPD requirement. Therefore, we will be offering these vaccines, free of charge, to all Roswell Park Cancer Institute employees and volunteers over the next few months. Please do not confuse the seasonal influenza vaccine with the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine, which will be offered at a later date and will be under the same state mandated requirement as the influenza vaccine.
The CDC estimates that 30-50% of the US population will be infected with H1N1. These important measures will protect our patients, protect your families and protect you. The seasonal flu vaccination dates and locations will be announced as soon as the vaccine is delivered to the Institute. We have ordered enough to vaccinate all the employees and volunteers. We still do not have much information regarding the availability of the H1N1 vaccine, but our plan is to provide it to every employee and volunteer as well. Please note, you can choose to receive the vaccines elsewhere and then submit proof to the Employee Health Clinic.
If you have any questions, please call the Employee Health Clinic at x3219. As we know more, additional information will be provided.
Doctor says FLU VACCINE will cause 60,000 deaths in France alone
Monday, Sept 14th, 2009
Dr Marc Girard, a specialist in the side effects of drugs and a medical expert commissioned by French courts, has said said on French TV that the “swine flu” vaccine could cause 60,000 deaths in France, especially among young people, children and pregnant women.
He also said that the people promoting the “swine flu” vaccine are doing so because they have links with the pharmaceutical company.
The problem with the “swine flu” vaccine is that it is not just “badly developed” but “not developed”, he said, adding that it is being prepared in conditions that endanger the public health.
TRANSLATION:
"A vaccine is being developed in conditions of amateurism such as I have never seen. Lets take the pessimistic hypothesis: one death among every 1000 patients. There are plans to vaccinate 60 million people, and you so you already have 60,000 deaths, and this time, young people, children, pregnant women.
THAT’S HOW HE CAME UP WITH THAT NUMBER. HE MADE IT UP.
1/1000 (pulled out of the air) x 60,000,000 (the population of France) = 60,000
They are comparing to the one in the 70’s I think. They said more people died from the vaccine than the flu itself after it was linked to GBS which is a form of nerve disease that is deadly. It was also recalled after 10 weeks.
I think I will wait.
Side note, the chicks in that video are HOT. I love the language too.
Because they are trying to scare us. The scare causes people to go get the flu shots, which in turn makes the pharmaceutical companies $$$, which then gets kicked back towards political campaigns.
People don’t die from the flu, they doe from the side effects. And the flu is different from person to person. So technically there is no true vaccine that will protect people. More people will die from side effects then from the swine flu itself.
Maybe because there are 2 or 3 big companies that run pretty much every news outlet. Somehow, somewhere, their profits are tied to pharmaceutical sales. If swine flu is big news, and 3/4th of the population runs out and gets a vaccine, profits go up. If swine flu isn’t news and no one gets the vaccine then all that R&D money spent on creating the vaccine is a loss.
It’s less tinfoil hat than I want to admit honestly.
