Cost Effective HP/Torque????

I may sound cheap here but im just one of those unemployed 17 year old drifters trying to cough up money for fuel and tires and am asking for any ideas on how to make power where there was none before.

Ok here goes (ideas so far):

*remove A/C system
*remove power steering system
*remove catalytic converter
*the small pre-muffler before the main one
*custom intake piping for direct air intake
*light weight oils
*smallest spark plug gap recommended
*timing advance w/higher fuel octane
*colder temperature thermostat

Also, got a question about the electronic speed govenor pre-set on the car, how do you remove it? Cause the cars are electronicaly limited to 180 right? Never tried to max my cars speed but would like to try it!

you actually want the largest gap in the plugs possible, but if you are turbocharged running a lot of pressure that can cause blow out, but i think you are not.

Larger gap, larger spark.

Thanks for the reply but a larger plug gap does create a larger spark, but at higher RPM’s it’s harder for the spark to ark that long gap. Also, if you got an old ignition system, you’ll stress it to much at high RPM with a large gap that the spark cant jump across. Not only this but it takes more time for the spark to travel so like I said…

What do you mean by “blowout”? If the igition timing is to spec, you shouldn’t be blowing up much or having any pre-ignition dilemmas to speak of.

low power drifting with no power steering is a bad idea.

keep the power steering, you’ll thank yourself after

HE HE HE, i would be to weak to turn the steering wheel.

Remove A/C
Remove ABS
Remove ABS computer
Gut A/C box
Get smaller tires (shorter gear ratios = more torque to the wheels in each gear - however lower top speed of each gear)
Run your engine oil close to the “L”
MSD coil
Remove intake resonator, drill holes in stock airbox or build a short ram intake kit
new sparks gapped TO RECCOMENDED - too small gap causes too small a spark, too big causes missing at high load (32thou)
New fuel filter
New air filter if keeping stock air induction assembly
Remove EGR
Gut stock cat
Change trannny and diff fluid
Make sure e-brake is not dragging
Remove all the weight you can bare

You can easilly pull 200lbs out of the car if you’re as hardcore as you talk.

Thanks Sasha!

I basically have tried most of what you said there.

“You can easilly pull 200lbs out of the car if you’re as hardcore as you talk.”

I actually sound hardcore? I may be brain washed from too much Initial D, but I am sad to hear that SOME people get scared when I ask what will be the result if I pushed 180KPH at 3 am when there isnt a soul on the road, with a friend on each end of the straight with 2-way radios to alert me ahould any car be approaching. I thought 240 drivers are the biggest risktakers and most talented around? But to my sad dismay, it really seems like SOME arn’t.

I ask a interesting question which I was curious on, a hypothetical one at that! and it gets locked?

I have expressed my views on this issue before, but whatever. It is just weird how I am looked upon a lunatic for wanting to see what my beloved S13 will do in a INDUSTRIAL AREA!!!

I agree with the statement/rules of not allowing idiots to run their mouth on this site but please, lock the posts for the right reasons. Irrevocably tho, hypocracy now reigns supreme.

Take care everyone!

Yeah… it shows. A real drifter you are…

Risk takers? I won’t even try food that dun look tasty to me, I am a talent-less ass-clown, and I’m sure there’s many more 240 drivers like me. Shit I’ve seen little old ladies driving 240s at 20 under the limit on their way back from the grocery store.
That being said, I’d still like to go to the track and learn stuff, I think you should do the same instead of doing max-speed runs. All you’ll be left with is the burning realization that your car is wood, and you don’t want that kinda trauma at this young age.

if I were to ever see a car on the road @ 3am going 180 I would hope the guy would get pulled over a couple times and learn his lesson before something a lot worse happens…

Remember man, there are no chicks in jail. So unless your :greddy:

Stay smart.

I dont think you are going to make enough horsepower to validate the time spent taking all that stuff out, making you car illegal (no cat), and making your car quite uncomfortable to drive in, that is if you are going to remove your entire interior… and it seems like you are on that path.

My advise is to do everything Sasha has posted sans gutting the cat.
Being brainwashed by Initial D is not the best way to go into modifying a car.

I call BS on that previous thread being a ‘hypothetical question’.

But to my sad dismay, it really seems like SOME arn’t.

I advise you to do a bit of research before making brash statements such as this.

Being a risktaker and being a complete idiot are two different things.

I doubt anyone has swayed you on your quest to break the sound barrier in your 15yr old car… so please make sure that your suspension, drivetrain, bushings, alignment, and tires are all ok before you make your industrial area runs. The last thing the tuner industry needs is another death attributed to ‘street racing’.

I think its a stupid idea.

i think this has been gone over before.

alan there is a tread jsut for you in car chat.

please take a look
