This is for Erie county. It looks like we’re on track to start phase 1 openings June 1st. Then two weeks later, phase 2. Then phase 3 at the start of July. Then phase 4 middle July.
Poloncarz hopes to hit all seven by the start of June. Once that happens, reopening will happen in four phases. He clarified what types of businesses are included in each phase on Twitter Saturday.
I guess the plant isn’t opening tomorrow then lol I’ve been going into work each day and I have to take a thermal scanner and read people’s eyeballs for a fever (only like 5 a shift). Looks like it’s gonna stay that way a while
I want to race my car, but races fall under “phase 4”. Looks like I’ll be racing in Ohio ((I think). I’ve heard from fellow racers that even PA is following in NY’s footsteps.
Anyone else find it a little ironic that the government closed down all these businesses but they see no problem with letting planes, trains, subways and buses continue operating? Your chances of getting COVID at work while practicing proper social distancing seem far less than getting on a NYC subway.
in general the idea of being in highly populated areas (NYC, downtown Toronto etc.) is fast losing its appeal.
i was driving downtown toronto the other day and even though nothing is open there are still all teh stir-crazy people that need to get out of their 500 sq ft spaces and go outside.
it will be interesting is all of this covid stuff, remote work, fear of public transit etc. has a ‘re-rating’ effect as far as where and what is considered desirable afterward.
would be interesting to see the previous hotspots give way to a more suburban lifestyle.
I agree that this will precipitate a rethinking of what’s “desirable” in terms of physical living space, and it’ll be interesting to see what affect is has moving forward. Personally speaking, I have never seen the appeal of living in an urban setting (unless you’re crazy wealthy and can afford a few floors of a building). NYC always struck me as a human Petri dish.
I just bought a house on 5 acres, that is adjacent to 100+ acres of woods. Between the land, barn, house etc my kids should be able to stay occupied for a while. As this batshittery continues I can’t help but to feel even better about our decision…
yeah im somewhere in between. i dont have the ability or interest to care for large properties nor the budget to pay someone else to do it… unless i was in the US south…
also, i still would want to be be a short walk from the basics and a very short drive from the frills.
to me, being an hour outside of downtown toronto or 30 min from the border is about where i want to be.
Covid right now has my fiance and I pretty tense. We are supposed to leave Mid Sept for 3 weeks as we are getting married in Rocky Mountain National Park staying in Estes, CO then taking a 2500 mile road trip. We are going through WY, MT, ND, SD and back to CO to visit the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, Theodore Roosevelt, Badlands, and Mount Rushmore with a few other locations along the way. We have about 10 places we are staying at and having to worry about 1 of those canceling or a State to shut down or say no one from NY state unless you quarantine for 14 days. I have 5 states to worry about making a change that affects us.
I know we still have about 4 months but with everything opening back up, could it cause a problem in 2 months and then more restrictions come back up. (Not that I want us to stay closed down)
i just had a budget meeting and had to figure out how many times i want to fly out west and into the US for the balance of the year… how the heck do you even plan for that right now?
I really have nothing to add to this other than that I feel terribly. My brother is getting married in the Lake George region in September and it’s starting to worry him. Coupled with the fact that him and his wife BOTH got COVID (living in Brooklyn) and both got furloughed, i feel pretty terribly for them both right now.
I wouldn’t want all kinds of money tied up in deposits (many likely non-refundable) for a destination wedding and honeymoon trip right now that’s for sure.
I’m sure it’s not what you want to hear but it might be a good idea to cancel those plans just do something small locally, then have a wedding re-do later on when things have calmed down.
Thank you. We have another reception back here in early October as well, so we have to worry about that as well. But all the time and energy put into our destination wedding for our immediate family is going to really suck if one thing throws it off. We dodge a bullet already on the Grand Tetons and where we are staying. The place cancelled reservations for 2 of it’s 4 locations and our location made the cut. All the other locations, if they do the same and it happens to be one we are at, there is literally no where around to stay within like 40 miles. That will also depend if those have already been booked a year in advance too. We got engaged back in Oct 2018. We wanted to take time to plan this and not stress ourselves… Because that’s working now. hahaha
Best of luck to your brother and your family with this. My cousin in Boston, MA just canceled her August wedding and my brother was supposed to go to Aruba for a wedding which was canceled.
This is genius. He’s making a pickup truck. Who likes pickup trucks? How are they traditionally marketed to that group of buyers? He’s creating an ethos around the brand.
