COVID-19 Pandemic Thread [NY Now Closes All Biz]

I’m at NYBP.

No more mask required signs.
Some employees are wearing them and some are not.

:+1:

Edit: they do have the plexiglass dividers at the bar still.

I’m not totally opposed to it. They help with bar etiquette

Edit 2:
Employees w/o masks had to provide proof of vaccination. Allegedly.

Poor lady in 90 degree heat, washing her car with a mask on. And no one around. Hillary bumper sticker seals it.

Most of my time outside of school I spend at the rink, so I’m glad at least to see I can go without a mask at the rink. Coaching with a mask on was miserable. Seemed to be a mix of people with and without masks at Holiday rink in Cheektowaga this week.

@JayS i wanna know how that goes with the known anti-vaxxers

How about the bullshit now with Cuomo bribing people to get a vaccination. Giving people a $20 lotto ticket if they get a vaccination between a set date. Where the f**k is my lotto ticket for trying to curb the spread and to get back to normal without being bribed?
This dude has to go. The amount of money he is costing this State is stupid. His investigation is DRAGGING and it’s costing tax payers a fairly large sum of money that could go back into schools, infrastructure or any thing else really needing it. At the rate right now, 1 person is making $750 an hour investigating and is hired for 6 months or until the attorney general says otherwise. If my math is right, that would add up to $720,000 for that one person. There are 2 people making the $750, others making between that and $325 an hour. It’s going to cost us Millions before we find out if he’s out or staying in.

The same can be said about any late adopters to public programs. Look at the Excelsior student loan grant whatever program. Where was my “free” money from NYS for going to college here and work in NYS?

This state is a fucking joke. Cumhead needs to just go away. Whether that’s in the next election or a tragic AIDs infected mountain lion rape, his time to leave office came a long time ago.

I thought the lotto thing was a pretty good plan. I look at all the people I know that are refusing to get shot and while there are exceptions most of them fall into the same group that thinks blowing money on scratch offs is wise spending. It’s not like it’s costing the state much and the value in getting more vaccinated is well worth it. Some people I see posting are like, “OMG, I can’t believe they’re wasting 5 million on this”. That’s now how scratch off tickets work. That 5 million dollar winner was out there when the batch was printed. It would have been pulled eventually regardless. So to the dude in NYS government who looked at the data and saw a correlation between dumbasses blowing money on scratch offs and dumbasses refusing a shot, I hope you get some kind of “creative problem solving in government” award for that one. :joy: To be fair, Ohio did it first and showed how well it worked, so the OH guy should probably get the award.

I do wish Resurgence would give me a free beer for getting my shot earlier on though. Everyone loves a free beer.

It would never happen in anti-gun NY, but other great carrot for a group with a high incidence of being anti-vax…

“Get a free 50rnd box of 9mm with your covid shot”.

How well did it work?

This is a very Ohio-esque thing to do.

I was in Ohio when they announced the chance to win the 1M prize or several free scholarships.

I would say its not a pandemic anymore if you need such theatrics to get people in the hot seat for the jab.

Anyone got any good carts from the vaccine injury numbers?

My work has announced no changes to the policy yet and get back to the office by July.

Within the last few days, an employee of Target went to work and – sick and tired of having her rights trampled upon – refused to wear her mask as directed by her employer. She informed her manager that she would not comply with his directive to wear the mask, that there was no scientific basis for the rule, and that there was no legal authority, which would allow him to enforce it. The employee added that she was in contact with the legal team at America’s Frontline Doctors (AFLDS) specifically an attorney named Tom Rentz, and had retained his services.

The Target manager directed the woman in question to go home and advised she was being terminated. Within 24 hours she was contacted at home and called back into work. The mask requirement was dropped. Apparently, somebody at Target’s legal department knew the name Tom Rentz and had bothered to check the law.

Interesting how people are willing to gamble with their health just to gamble for a CHANCE (slim at that) for a few bucks.

Was out and about all day today. No masks anywhere.

It’s sad to see that one lady with her super young child, both masked up, while 90% of the people around are unmasked.

One poor little girl got super nervous as my wife was walking towards her down an isle of plants OUTSIDE at a garden center. Practically ran the other way. These kids are going to have serious emotional issues.

This mother fucker…

Trudeau, speaking to reporters Tuesday, flagged a 75% vaccination rate as key threshold when asked about potentially reopening the border.

Almost 40% of Canadians have received a first dose, but just over 3% are fully inoculated, according to the Bloomberg Vaccine Tracker. By comparison, more than 48% of Americans have had their first shot and 38% are fully vaccinated.

Lake Erie Speedway this weekend, They posted on social media saying to wear masks at the ticket office, concession stands, bathrooms, etc. No one had them, no employees had them. Bunch of handshakes and such, it was a great weekend and felt really normal. Loved every minute of it.

Has anyone else noticed that there is less trash* in mall parking lots and fewer empty Tims cups on store shelves?
