Crysis physics engine in motion.

Holy fucking shit.

Yea, that’s absolutely incredible. The ending was ridiculous!

I wonder how many hours in the sandbox it took to create that. Any crate quantities?

that’s pretty BA. I am guessing they are trying to push for physic offload from the CPU but I don’t think that is where the market is headed. Intel is moving towards GPU on the CPU where teh graphics cards is virtually eliminated and thus the physics engine is a sub-processor of the main CPU.

On another topic based on what you said, it would be interesting if Intel managed to pull their head out of their ass in the GPU field much like they did with chipsets back in the 486/pentium era.

cool beans

Random side note. Whos played crysis AND cod4? from what ive seen its split down the middle with who prefers what.

Having played most of the cod games, and a demo of 4, i think I like crysis just a little better. Its less chaotic. I like being able to plan a bit more, rather than non stop action. Thats just me though.

Crysis engine is phenominal. Besides Far Cry, I think that Entropia game will be using it too. Call of Duty engine is nice, but I think Crysis engine is a bit more advanced.

o_O!

The high res version is surprisingly exciting…

COD runs on the quake engine.

I haven’t tried Crysis yet, but I’m sure I’ll like it better than COD4. I couldn’t uninstall that demo fast enough. Too much coordination and bullshit for me, too many extra keys needed, too many restrictions made in the name of “realism” (I want to be able to carry ten weapons at once AND all the ammo they can hold, AND fire while running. Realism is boring in FPS games.) and not enough ammo (what do you mean I only get one shot with this RPG?) :hang: . Doom 3 is still my benchmark for what a FPS should be (for single player, though Half-Life is also good) and Quake 2 (with Lithium mod) is still my benchmark for multiplayer.

sex

physics/geometry is the next big thing. Can’t wait to play crysis on the new rig. The game is pretty badass if you can get past the shitty AI (or maybe it’s because the game is too easy)

I’m not impressed with Doom 3. I have it and can’t even finish. It’s just mindless run and gun. The graphics are superb, but the gameplay is just boring. Half-Life 2 is fantastic though. I also really enjoyed Far Cry and as soon as I can upgrade my computer, I will be putting Crysis on it.

That video is pretty nuts, I am really really tempted to build a new rig.

My year-old rig runs the Crysis demo just fine, I tried it tonight. I am running at 1360x768 with 4xAA rather than 1920x1080, however. Still looks quite good, even with medium detail.

System specs: AMD 64x2 4400+, 2GB DDR400, Geforce 7950GT video with 512MB of RAM, Win XP (DX9).

EDIT: Played the demo all the way through to completion in ~2 hours. I think I’m going to have to get the full game. Using cloak mode to sneak up on guys, knock 'em out with a tranquilizer dart, then cap 'em with the silenced rifle is way too much fun. I did find myself wishing for a sniper rifle of some kind though.
