however gautam and i were puzzled by a strange noise comming from the hippo when you turned from lock to lock.
imagine you are looking at it from the top, well the purple indicators that you screw on, are supposed to turn a bit when you turn the wheels i was told.
Scott, build some ramps like I told you (use your judgement on how so
you don’t bust up your bumper), jack up the car, take the D2s out,
retighten everything (like Black Apple said) and see what happens.
I am sure I tightened all the collars but ya never know. Also, Pavel said
to make sure the pillowball nut at the top should be very tight so look into
that too.
So either you can wait all day and complain or take the D2s out and see
what the dilly is.
I tightened my purches tight as f*ck, but sometimes the clunking would still come back. It was those retarded undersized rubber sleeves that kept binding to the spring and collar. If those bastards come loose one more time I swear I’ll tack those bitches to the threaded shock body.
That’s just one of the problems I’m having, as mentioned on this post.
Clunk when going through a bump, but only from the driver side strut, not when it goes through a bump on pass side. When the weather is hot, the spring starts to make a springy noise everytime I stop and go. When I get out of my driveway, I hear that retarded spring noise again! My friend’s dad has a beat up '94 Intrepid, factory shocks, 370K and it still doesn’t make a bit of a sound going in and out of my driveway.
My friend installed eibach and kyb on his civic, and he’s very happy with them. D2’s are CRAP! I’ve learned my lesson… YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I would never, ever, EVER buy D2 coils ever again!
Hardly. Even Tien HE’s are infamous for making noise. If you thought coilovers were going to be as quiet as stock suspension, then you were wrong.
Stock peices have soft gaskets for reducing noise, whereas on coilovers you have metal on metal contact unless you run the same sort of gasket.
From what I remember, KYB AGX’s require that you reuse your stock gaskets. Maybe you should try the same on your D2’s before you make any more uneducated comments about them being crap.
What? How does a clunking noise have anything to do with valving? It’s a matter of the collars turning on the threaded body or the camber plate knocking on the strut tower due to improper seating.
Nobody cares what you “guess” the problem is. If have no idea what you’re talking about and just regurgitate what you hear on other forums, then don’t post.
As for this “cheap coilovers” bullsh*t, maybe you just don’t realize that tien, cusco, and any other popular company are just selling you their name. If you wish to buy into that propaganda, by all means waste your money and do so. Infact, most of those companies use the same manufacturer to produce the equipment, then just package under different names. Hardly any company builds their own shit anymore, it’s all outsourced.
LOL…some people on here need to learn that reading about coilovers and asking others what they think isnt how to learn about them becuase 5/10 ppl dont really understand how they work, nor do they get them professoanlly installed.
I have had my d2’s on since april. And i have used them for over 10 track days for sure. Not a single noise, or leak anywhere. the only time u may hear a clunk is when entering a contour on an angle and one tire goes in the air…and then upon rebound u may hear the spring going back into the perch.
Zeal, which is the best shit from japan even makes noise. Its race application suspension so driveability and practicality are not even considered during design. If u hear noises, take them out…re tighten everything and put them back in. For those that ordered custom spring rates with ure d2’s, they were not pre assembled and toqued back to spec from the top mount, so thats where the noise starts from, especially when turning. Make sure u tighten the whole coilover before you slap it on.
Good luck
i havent taken my car to the track with my D2’s but on the street (street driftou) they are amazing… no noise or anything bad so far.
i’d recommend them to anyone
i can’t complain, the car handles great and i was just getting a “clunking” noise as i was driving when the latesat KA kicked the can, so i’ll pull them out, clean them, and retighten everything and i should be good to go…perhaps i’ll do that now…
Kinda funny how i tell you1 thing, youy say NO and everyone else tells you the same thing…well it’d funny ffrom my perspective…and titan is a fuc-tard …hey petey, your stands are still ehre, when you gonna come pick them up?

“What? How does a clunking noise have anything to do with valving? It’s a matter of the collars turning on the threaded body or the camber plate knocking on the strut tower due to improper seating.”
first off. I jack up my car, take off tire, grab coilover, shake it around, you can feel the shit moving around inside the shock “CLUNKING” coming from the middle of the shock body…
come fix my clunk for me. i already had some dimwit fuck’d around with my coilovers before they were sold to me, and forgot to put some washers in the rear causing much havoc… but i fixed that and its fine now.
Those stupid undersized rubber thingys keep the spring from seating properly (at least that was the case with my D2’s) so I just junked them all and there seems to be absolutely no problems with mine.
