Might as well start a drama thread…
I saw this the day it was posted originally and the day after when the guy swapped the speedo and painted the rims! 2 or 3 people on craigslist called him out on it
JnJ odometer rollback special?

This guy has no legal liability. In nys after 10 years the odomoter is exempt from recording.
Federal Law trumps state law making it illegal under the federal odometer act.
However the mileage on the vehicle has not been recognized by the state in ten years. So he could easily say. " I bought the car this way I had no idea" the kid probably never registered the car.
I wonder how many people have been scammed before the days of digital speedos and car fax
West seneca strikes again.
What does it matter with digital speedos? Go to the junkyard or ebay and find one with less miles.
This. Years ago I had a grand am that had cluster issues. When I replaced it the car magically had 50K less on it.
Kind of hard to claim ignorance when the previous owner is there saying, “yep, that’s the guy I sold it to, when I sold it the odometer had over 200k and here’s my ad that says it had over 200k when I sold it”. If the previous owner is pissed enough to call channel 4 to investigate I’m willing to be he’d testify if charges get filed. Plus carfax is showing odometer fraud so it’s been reported officially at least once in the past with less than 79k.
I really hope he does get charged. Fucking scammers.
I hate scammers…but I sort of do know that on 2000-2005 grand ams that may have been a lease at the time…if you pulled the fuse for the cluster…the odometer didnt work anymore…
" you made me make a phony phone call to me Rooney!"
I am not surprised at all. I appraise cars all day every day and people try to pull this crap all the time. The “selling for a friend” bullshit is because he was trying to jump titles and hand over a title to the buyer with the previous owners info on it. That saves him reg/tax/dmv fees.
This kid is a total fuck stain. I hope he gets charged I’m sick of seeing his ass around town Parkin lot pimpin and trying to be thugin
I used to get this all the time when I sold RV’s. People would come in with a title from a deceased relative or friend who they got it from and try to trade it in. They get so pissed to find out they had to go to the DMV, pay their taxes and wait for a new title to come in the mail.
This the guy with the e46 with fake M3 badges?
Works with some cars, but others it stores the mileage somewhere in the computer, and even if you replace the dash with a lower or higher mileage cluster it will still have the original miles on it. I want to say the older caravans did this
