nearly 2 years ago ford contacted the owner or SHO club and asked him to pick a few people to go to a round tabe meeting with ford to discuss what we wanted in a new SHO… ford asked for a few people and ended up with over 30 people walking in the door. many of those people were invited back to the event below
ford has also stated that IF sales do well then a manual will be added to the lineup in a few years.
the turbos are wastegated garretts. garrett is making pretty good progress with offering aftermarket upgrades to engines they have OE platforms of. I would expect some sort of up-sized turbo in the first few years. the inlet is about 1.5" on the stock ones. i rode in a Flex with this powertrain and it was an absolute rush, effortless and smooth. i’m not like some insider, the janitor probably know more than I do, but my company is supplying some parts and i did see it for a week or two at ford dyno.
doing my part to start quasi-unsubstantiated rumors, when uncorked it made much more than 36Xhp. so its detuned for the tranny, no question about it. there will be lots of performace bottled up in chips and tuners, so will only need bigger pipes after 450+ hp i think, and the tranny will no-doubt be limiting at that point. by all accounts the 3.5L engine is a really good engine, so this should also be a really nice engine.
not sure how a 360 hp car would drive everyday, also the mileage will have to be 25mpg city-30 highway for me to really be serious, i would hate to trade in a car for one with less mileage. I am crunching the numbers to see how I can afford/save for the difference plus trade in. i also hope they release it for E85 someday.
