quote from post 16. if this is true then I am impressed.

I went to Engineering Open House at U of I. Drove an MKT there and the SHO back. I’m fully in love with SHO after my drive. Zero torque steer, surprisingly tight suspension, 0-60 time of 5.39 (my own run, not the official number), and a 1/4 mile of 13.77 @ 109 mph pulling 0.65 G’s of acceleration (again my own run). AWD makes it impossible to break the tires loose. The launch isn’t crazy, but once the turbos have a head of steam it pulls like hell. WOT through a 90 deg turn and the body barely rolls. 20s are hot too.

high 13… with a 109 trap. lol.

maybe it has some crazy torque management that kills it off the line or something. this guy ran a 13.77 @ 109 and I ran a 12.79 @108 with my taurus. regardless a 109 trap speed is moving pretty good for a 4100lb sedan.

thats kinda what I was thinking. 109 trap is akin to a mid 12 generally speaking. But I assume that it being overweight and AWD it just kills the short time. There is a ton of assumptions there though. Yep, 109 is respectable for a 2 ton corporate sedan

From a guy I know from work that has an SHO among other cars:

“I was out at Gingerman Raceway over the weekend and Car and Driver was there doing the official road test on the 2010 Taurus SHO. They also had a Hyundai Genesis sedan as a comparison vehicle. The article will be out in August as the September issue. After talking with the guy’s it sounds like it will get great reviews, but who knows, it’s still not a Honda or Toyota…”

and there were two 2010 sho’s at gingerman, the promo car and the car that C&D beat till the brakes smoked

it’s crazy how BIG cars are made today…

:frowning:

to bad the new sho engine wont rev like this:

For real…

I just can’t get into this car…does nothing for me. I don’t care what numbers it produces it’s just too bland. To me, the Gen 1 SHO was a great car (at the time of it’s development…) and pretty much got worse as the years went on.

High cowl. I wonder if it’s like driving an armored truck. :frowning:

probably. volvo designed in

Interior looked ugly, and the body is only a little bit better.

the lincoln mks clicked off a 13.9 with car and driver at the wheel. The mks has a taller final drive, as well as a bit less power, and some added weight so maybe the SHO will be good for a 13.5-13.7. That is not bad for a 4300lb sedan

I wonder if they track tested a Ford Flex yet? any info on this?

reading not your strong point?.. dick

i was at my car clubs national meet in kalamazoo last week. the ford engineers were giving rides in the SHO. i love it! for the size, it really moves.

Remembering things you told someone an hour earlier not your strong point?

Looks like the car responds well to being tuned. No mods other than a tune and I believe the boost was not raised either. It remains at 12psi. Timing was added, fuel was removed. Not to shabby for a 4400lb car.

I realize that many of you couldent give 2 shits about the taurus but someone on TCCA (taurus car club of america) spent a lot of time putting togeather this video and i think he did a great job.

his name is Karrmann on TCCA

he made most of the video from ford advertising and I realized something… did ford know they made a SHO? or even a duratec engine for it? what pitiful advertising they have.
