Is it a good idea to declare mods on a car to the insurance company?
Won’t this make things alot more expensive?
Can they void claims if they aren’t anything major?
best bet is to play dumb and say something like “i don’t think so”
in theory they can’t screw you over because you didn’t say that the car wasn’t modified, you just didn’t think it was because you don’t know cars.
that is what me and my friends do, though none of us have had to put a claim through yet so we’ll see if it works.
The insurance company can do whatever they want. There are so many loop holes. They can technically void your policy if you use an engine oil that was not what the factory uses. They can even do it if you put 91 in instead of 87. There are TONNES of little technicalities that they can get you on.
However, if they ask you if you car is modified for STREET racing. a simple “no my car is not modified for STREET racing”, can give you an upper hand if it’s ever needed. You simply disclosed that the car was not modified for STREET racing. you left the question unanswered but answered at the same time.
Yes, I’ve taken a few insurance college courses, lol.
