Insurance for modified cars

I’m having issues with my new insurance company with my S14. I’m looking for a broker or insurance company that insures modified cars.

Anyone know of any?

Thanks.

Look through that thread…

or dont tell them!

if you dont tell tthe insurance then if anything happens like a crash that part might not be insured as an aftermarket part.

Like if you tell your insurance company that i had an aftermarket cold air intake, exhaust, or any body kit then it wont be insured only stock parts

that is a true statement.
unfornutately most companies will not cover modified cars. (obv)
however other companies cover certain aspects

belair direct covers modification of up to 1500$ without a raise in ur monthly payments.
After 1500$ ur premium increases.
BUTTT they do not cver ANY engine modifications.

Aviva covers ALL modifications. (there is a special devision under aviva) not to say is cheap.

and finally
High risk brokers cover all modifications to.
found one, i told them i have 20Gs(appraised at 22Gs (OBV lies but jsut to c)) in A/M upgrades on a s14. (no accidents.tickets) and they told me $450 a month.

You pay to play either way.

You can disclose that your car is modified, in which case most insurance companies will increase the premium or choose not to accept the business.

The other option is to NOT disclose modifications. In this case, there are no problems if there are no claims made. However, when a claim is made and the insurer discovers undisclosed modifications - they may denial claim. In addition, the insurer may also cancel the policy for non-disclosure. If one is canceled for non-disclosure, it will show up on their insurance history causing major problems if you’re looking for insurance in the future.

i was just talking to Raf yesterday… he has a company called special vehicle appraisals appraise his car and he is with Aviva.

i used to be with Aviva but they purged alot of policy last year, i was one of them.

there are a number of insurers who do cover that stuff you just gotta be up front i guess.

I’d like to know this company that does appraisals - it’d be a good resource for me to have.

As for modifications coverage - you could get away with things like aero, interior mods, and MAYBE suspension, but engine mods will definitely raise some red flags.

mms, unless you plan on daily driving your s14 again, jump on a custom wheel plan, Lant-Ins brokers, underwritten by Aviva… http://www.lant-ins.ca/

Car has to be 15 y.o., you’ll need an appraisal ($90-250), and the car has to be stored in a locked garage, you can’t track the car or use it to drive to work, but when you see your yearly cost!!!.

You may be able to swing this based on the s14’s production date… or wait 1 year for coverage.

btw: this is only for people with registered and insured daily drivers with 10 years of driving experience, sorry kids.

Amount to
be insured Annual Premium
$3,000 $144
$4,000 $162
$5,000 $180
$6,000 $198
$7,000 $216
$8,000 $234
$9,000 $252
$10,000 $270
$11,000 $288
$12,000 $306
$13,000 $324
$14,000 $342
$15,000 $360
$16,000 $378
$17,000 $396
$18,000 $414
$19,000 $432
$20,000 $450

or if you’re older and you have multiple cars, a home and other stuff with the same insurer you can leverage the rest of your book of business to keep the insured car properly insured. I need to go with legit insurance soon and will be going this route.

My insurance company (state farm) is not mod friendly.

i can do anything to my car except for change wheel and tire size (yes, appartently, that includes winter setup. hahaha), change the centre of gravity or add anything that increases performance. I recently had to eat a rear end accident because of this. They wanted to send an inspector over. I really did not feel like demodding that much for 800 bucks.

I can do, paint, stereo or anything that doesnt affect height or wheel and trie size or performance…basicallly I can do anything that I care nothing about and nothing that I do. hahha.

ooooooohhhh, I like this. I’m gonna call and check this out. I qualify. :)[COLOR=“Silver”]

Good reply guys.

I’m not concerned about covering the car as I plan on just liability. I just don’t want to have insurance revoked/canceled for non-disclosure. I’ve got a family and don’t need insurance drama if I get into an accident. I’ve got friends that got into accidents where they got sued - (car wasn’t modified) insurance company took care of it.

The plan is to drive the car till it’s sold. I’ll give Aviva broker’s a call and see how that goes.

when my car was hit, my company(belair) would only replace my aftermarket parts with stock parts, but i only pay 120/month… personally i think insurance is wasted money
