Street racing and not paying attention is about the same in the eyes of the law, huh?

Yeah well the worst is
Failing to remain at the scene of an accident (Traffic Safety Act section: 69 (1)) (Demerits: 7)

If only more people knew this one. lol.

True… anyone else ever come outside to discover their car had been hit in the parking lot?

Driving wrong way on one-way highway (Demerits: 3)

this is only 3 yet racing is 6…FUCK OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM SUCKS!!!

So practically everything that most drivers do on a daily basis. Think of the money they could earn if they were more diligent on these laws…

Thank goodness they’re not but I know a few people who have easily racked up at least 15 points by now…

Is there any demerits for driving with no insurance or going through a yellow light?

I would guess that no insurance would fall under "Driving while unauthorized (Traffic Safety Act section: 94(2) " followed with a heavy fine and impounding of the vehicle

Going thru a yellow…depends on the senario of the yellow
"Failing to yield right of way to a vehicle:
at flashing yellow light (Demerits: 3)

Failing to yield right way to a pedestrian:
at flashing yellow light (intersection) (Demerits: 3)
at flashing yellow light (not at intersection) (Demerits: 3)
at flashing yellow light (with zone sign) (Demerits: 3)

Failing to stop
yellow light at intersection (Demerits: 3)
yellow light - not at intersection (Demerits: 3) "

On my drivers abstract it says that I got no demerits taken off for driving without insurance.

Anyone know whats going on with the new window tint tickets ?
I got one during the summer in lethbridge but I heard they wanted to give demerits for them now ?

I have not heard anything regarding giving demerits for this. I will have to look into this, who knows it could be true.

I just got one on Saturday, RCMP - had the tint on for 2 years, never had an issue. Guy was training a rookie. My kids went crazy counting all the cars that went by with tinted windows while we were pulled over! Can’t count how many times I have gone by city police or RCMP without a problem, even gone thru checkstops and they never said a word! $57 and I gotta pull the tint off. Bugger!

I don’t even waste my time with tint on the front anymore. I been nailed so many times with various cars I have owned. At one time they gave you an option pull it off right on the spot or take a ticket. I said I’ll take the ticket the cop was pissed it must have been the first time he heard that after he gave me the ticket he said he was going to give me one every time he saw me:huh: Also Sylvan Lake they live for giving tickets like window tint or no mud flaps on lifted trucks, anything they can on modified cars/trucks. However I have never heard of it costing you demerits and it is very unlikely it ever would it relates to your vehicle not your driving practices.

there is a stunting ticket that does not have demerits. 115-2-E, same money just no points…so maybe if you talk nice to the officer you can get that one
