Hey guys, finally just got dynod and the graph shows WHP…but whats my motor HP. Do you take your WHP and divide by .85?
thanks

why does it matter?
you will be taking a quantifiable number and making into a shitty guess, at best.
because the gsr’s are 170hp and there whp being lower…i wanna know how much i jumped
lol…some things never change
sigh i’ll give it ONE shot anyway…
there’s no way to know what ur “motor” hp was cuz they are all slightly different.
if you really wanted to know, you should’ve baseline dyno’ed it when it was still stock, then gone back to the same dyno after you were turbo.
who cares what you made stock anyway? i’ve seen them make anywhere from 140-155whp depending on if it was bone stock or if it had intake/header/exhaust…
so yea
170 x .85 = 144
310 x .85 = 263
main reason is because my jerkass friends say i dumped money into the teg for nothing.
but im happy with the build so thats all that matters
maybe you should have dynoed BEFORE you did your mods.
Chances are you did some shitty mods like intake and headers.
First off, from the factory, your car might have had 160 HP at the FW. It might have had 174. You have no idea.
Secondly, in order to get an accurate FW hp number, you need to know your drivetrain losses. This isn’t even constant, it’s veriable w/ time and RPM and a hundred other variables. But since you’re only concerned with peak HP, because you’re obviously a shitty jesus loving ricer, you can assume 15% drivetrain loss…
BUT WAIT!
What if it’s actually 20%? OMG, you just added like 10 more crank horsepower, just like that. OMG, this ebay intake REALLY WORKS… But what if you had 25% losses? OMG MORE POWER!!!
All in all, what you are trying to determine is (pick one)
lastly, the s2k only gets more ass than you do, because you get NONE.

your right Toda…somethings never change (newmans comment)(shitty jesus loving ricer)what are you even talking about?
Actually Newman I had no intention on building the teg but over the winter i decided to boost. yea i know i should have dyno…but i didnt.
now i did and im just wondering.
whats your deal? clam down, i asked a question. i have no beef with you
Maybe after your done with that…you can take the WHP and weight and use a online track time generator
who cares what your friends say? its your $, your car, fuck em. fuck newman too if u don’t like his comments.

Too much time on your hands buddy

how many header mods did he do newman? :nono:
ye i plan on running the 1/4 mile soon. i think the closest is below rochester.
before being boosted if i remember correctly it was 14.5ish
we shall soon see

i meant heaters.
as in “ripping some heaters”
You would HATE to own an STi. The first time you dropped like 4k into mods and then had it dyno’d and it made 299 whp, and they make 300 HP stock! OMG, where did my money and ponies go???
this inquiry makes perfect sense to me. He is trying to quantify the benefit to people who know fuck all about cars.
on NYspeed is makes no sense, but to random fools it does.
When i say to people my car puts out 320whp+ it doesnt mean anything without context. He is looking to create the context to people not in the know.
a better way of doing it, in my opinion, is to get a good 1/4 time and compare it to stock and to the 1/4 times of other cars because people who dont know anything about cars still know that certain cars are fast.
for example, if your GSR had a stock 1/4 time (go to road and track or whatever) of like 14.8 and now you run a 12.7 that two second difference might not mean anything to joe blow. however, when you tell him that a E46 M3 does the 1/4 mile in 13.4 with a professional driver… it creates the context.
when you then tell him that a 911 or a camaro (depending on audience) do the 1/4 much slower it might help you out as well.
the issue here is justifying the $$$ on the car to people who dont understand. Alot of my friends are not into cars and cant imagine why i/we drop tens of thousands into the cars we do.
then you take them for a rip, peel their face off, and they sorta get the point…
and if you’re Newman or Joe… you do it becuase you make lots of money and want to make poor people jealous… then you jab at them to make them mad too… fuck poor people.

Did you use Quaker state motor oil???
***with Q technology
i can see his point in a way…but a good way to always explain things to ur dumbass friends is to be like hey my car has XXXhp at the crank and I dynoed it stock and it put XXXwhp…then go back and dyno after mods…but since u didnt do that stock ur SOL…just race them…smoke them and laugh at them…but race for money
for example my stock maxima claims 190 Crank HP…I dynoed it stock at it put 178.8whp…So i used the 178 as a base which was fairly consistant with other stock maximas…a simple y-pipe later…redynoed bam 189.6whp…again fairly consistant with the same mod on other maximas…now even dynos have their variables so…just be happy with what u have and who cares
I just don’t make friends with car-stupid people, that’s the real solution
For my older friends who really don’t have a clue, I just don’t bring cars up, and let them assume what they want - ignorance is bliss.

to a certain extent, i think that really is the solution here. i can categorize my friends into two buckets: those that know cars, and those that dont. i would never attempt to explain to those that dont about my hobby and why i spent all the money i have in the past. i just dont bring it up. because the questions they ask and the things they say make my brain hurt.
